Sure... We are basically saying the same thing. This year, it is not happening. They may get Europa though since they are at the 5th spot with this ragtag team. Next year though, they will be very competitive up there.

Yep. It would be so much better for French football to see the good old OM back to its previous grandiose level. Especially to have the true rivalry between Marseille and Paris back, at equivalent level.

Anyway, I dont think Payet would bring so much value to Arsenal. He would, but would he be a game changer, what we need to win a title? Im not convinced.

Anyway, that will be the new OM management to decide if he is too old or not...

i dont doubt OM can build a strong team and reach some success next years. and i see that they would be able to finance that transfer if player wants.

but thats the more questionable aspect here. Does Payet want to join a team that cant guarantee him (high class) champions league football for the last highlevel years of his career?

I dont know but i would assume he would join any other team than OM that plays CL this / next year.

And that again depends on available offers from top clubs. But with that public refusal to play for WHU he better should have some ideas where to go

edit: okay l'equipe says he agreed terms with OM. i'm just not intelligent enough to get this :eek:ops:

Say Yeh or You're Making The List
West Ham paid him a loyalty bonus of £1M last summer. They moved mountains to keep him.

A lot of people I know were encouraged by West Ham's recruitment. Feghouli, Tore, Nordtveit, Ayew, Zaza etc. were all said to be good purchases. Problem is almost none of them have performed, Zaza and Calleri in particular have been hugely disappointing.

I do feel for Slaven but the board backed him all the way in the summer, make no mistake this is his doing. Payet isn't convinced by the quality around him and wants out. Seems he'd rather live/play comfortably in Marseille than fight for a title though.

Sad that this guy turned out to be a complete ****ing snake :( I can respect wanting out but not in the way he's doing it. Apparently he still flies to France every week to see his kids, so wanting to go back makes sense. Still, be a ****ing class act about it when the club has shown you nothing but respect.

Not even saddened that he wants to leave, we kind of already knew that. Just a shame that he decided throwing a tantrum was the way to go, ruining his relationship with the club and fans in the process.

What is it with French players? Some real weird characters down there. Nasri, Anelka, Payet, Gallas, Evra, Benzema, Ribery, Ben Arfa etc. all seem like utter ****s. Like a country of arrogant ****-stirrers.

It is a famous generation of players. They are known as the 87 generation Nasri Ben Harfa Benzema ...
But please, just focus on all the other french players who are amazing and so many of them play or have played in England. Especially at Arsenal.

Also, Ben Arfa has changed so much it is pretty amazing. And his year at Nice was insane. It looks like he's finally becoming the player he should have always been.

League is very weak
Not sure the French are any worse than any other player, just that they're exported more than their counterparts from other major leagues or European nations.

Comeon @Dokaka..... I totally understand your frustration with Payet but you don't need to generalize though. Uncalled for....

I guess Hammers fans will change their Payet version of the Özil song into something more juicy.

I still sing 'we've got Suarez, Luis Suarez' in hope that I'll wake up and Wenger put in a proper bid rather than 40mil and a pound. Take me back.

The problem is that young talents are always f*ucked up in France. The journalists have a too big mouth. Generation 87 was promised to be the new France 98 : Nasri-Menez-Arfa-Benzema ( The late was the only one on the bench). But with the hype around the titulars, they began to have the big head, and that was the end of their carreer.

The only one who was humble was Karim and we all know where he is now.

To play for Marseille in France is THE Dream, only club of Ligue 1 to have won the UCL. They are the one that helped Drogba or Ribery to become what they are or were. In this club is all about passion even if right now their situation "laisse à désirer". I understand his choice. It's like he never left. Payet has come to England because he wanted to prove himself to Didier Deschamps and to prove to the others that he wasn't some Middle-Tier Football player with no future.

Really? Never realised Marsielle were held in such high regard amongst French footballers?! It just seems like a backwards move from Payet. The premier league put him on the big stage.
