Another team that I can stand doing business with as they assume they are bigger than they actually are:

West Ham
Aston Villa
Newcastle (pre takeover)
Andy Naylor
Lyon

Probably missing a few.

Palace really annoy me.

When one of their fans said on here "Zaha should stay with us, as we have about the same chance of playing Champions League as Arsenal" ...state of it 😅

Ahhh I forgot about them. Steve Parish can go in the bin with their fans too as I remember with the Zaha saga, I actually think we offered a fair amount for him. Same with Cabaye when they were furious about our so called “derisory offer” yet they sold him for a similar fee not too long after 😂

Cabaye was at Newcastle while we were trying to sign him, we offered £12m or something, he went on strike before moving to PSG for 20 odd the next summer.
Palace bought him from them.
You can put him in the Alonso, Suarez, Reina, Higuain, Gary Cahill etc pile of the clubs/Wengers refusal to pay an extra couple of million costing us a really good player.
As annoying as it is most of the time of you can’t blame the selling club, they often only have one big asset, like Zaha at Palace or Grealish when he was at Villa, if the player is on a long contract you can’t expect them to just easily sell them for we consider ’a fair price’.
Zaha for example was literally the difference between Palace being pretty much guaranteed Premier League/TV money for 4 or 5 years as opposed to the possibility of going down, I mean how much is that worth to them?
I do concur on twitter/internet supporters though, as soon as a rumour appears “you wouldn‘t get his big toe for that”, “are you having a laugh?”, “Yeah try doubling that”.
As if they have some sort of say or influence over the players fee, or even some inside knowledge of what the club are actually asking.

In all this madness, no one cared to ask what Cabaye thought about it all. The moment Joe Kinnear called him Yohan Kebab, his destiny was sealed.

I do agree with the other names you mentioned but Zaha at that particular time was a fair deal. Had they been willing to work around a decent structure, they could have fleece us for the 72m we paid for Nicolas Pepe. 72m would have been generous for a player that’s best ever season in the PL had him scoring 11 goals. Anyways for me it’s not really even the valuation that I’m on about but the way those teams conduct themselves.

Jean-Michel Aulas when he was president of Lyon would always act up whenever Arsenal were interested but would buckle to others. Sometimes you have to be shrewd and just know when to sell as you can’t have that stance for every single player teams are interested in.

Villa is a real big club tbh. Don’t compare them to those jokers in that list

Well said.

Any Gooner taking pot shots at a historically big club that have the one thing we lack & desperately desire, a European Cup, needs to engage in a serious bout of self-reflection.

Absolute b0llocks. They won it about 40 years ago and have done nothing since. Think about what we’ve done in that period. Now all of a sudden Ipswich, Forest, Steaua Bucharest and Red Star Belgrade are big clubs too? Villa have done nothing in decades.

Fair enough.

I should've clarified that I meant it in the context of the company they shared in the post I was replying to.

Used to like Villa back in the day until their fans for no reason at all started singing songs about Eduardo after he had his leg broken at St Andrews.

Something wrong with Brum altogether, not much other than lunatics and dickheads that little town seems to produce.
