Not against this at all on a Bosman.

Mertens - Auba - Pepe front three does have goals & creativity in it (if Auba stays). Covers us as slightly as well if we lose Auba or Laca (would still want another forward at least like Dembele signed in that scenario as well).

Allows the likes of Martinelli, Saka & Nelson to grow into their roles further for a year or 2, while still getting decent game time from the bench & rotating.

Allows us to concentrate funds for another position ie central midfield & central defender. Yeah, i wouldn't be against this at all.

And that's an argument to sign Mertens how?

Why? Just give the game time to Martinelli or another young forward.

People putting Auba in any front three for next season are being a bit hopeful, imo.

Luiz made sense, in all fairness. Kos left and we were short of experienced CB's, a position where experience is far more important than a winger. He was also Premier League experienced and provides a decent stop gap while we wait for Saliba/Holding/Chambers etc.
Mertens is a 33 year old winger, 5'7 and zero experience of the league, completely different situation to the Luiz signing as it's very questionable if he'll be a more useful option than just playing Martinelli/Saka/Nelson etc.

For all the promise that group of kids have barely score, assist or create clear chances in the league yet. Signing a 33 year old for a year or two shows we have faith in them & position there for them to win in the short / medium term. Worse thing we can do is hand out places or have to play youth as no other options.

Could be a Good Short term signings. We all know how guendoozi need some time off. Will be the same if we play the other kids more.
Decent scoring record with 9 goals in 20 apps this year. In contrast laca has 6 in 18.

Napoli is also severely underperforming as a team. No one seems motivated, could be the beginning of the end for them as a top tier team for the time being.

Would take Mertens and Fraser on frees provided we keep the rest of the attacking unit as it is, or minus Lacazette.

Allows us to focus funds on defenders and a midfielder for a change.

I think he can be friends with our players. Bring him in.

Fraser has been very poor this season. Was listening to Talksport at work and Bournemouth fans are saying he’s fallen off a cliff.

Didn't people on this forum bring over neighbours for orgies when the rumour started this summer?

Can't believe that a one season with good assists doesn't make a player
