Why would you play eze in the left when trossard and martinelli are much better fits. Eze just isn't that good. You could see it in the game today. He cant tackle and he cant press he also doesnt have speed. He doesnt try to beat a player. He just looks lost.

I said he was over hyped when he came. He looked good in palace team as everything goes through him. He gets 20% of the ball here and he doesn't look like a confident player. Compare him with semenyo. He is a moments player. Bournemouth didn't play through him he made things happen. Its why he is doing well at city already. Same as cunha to an extent. Wolves were poor but if something happened it was because of him. Eze just isn't for this team. I'd sell him on ASAp but I think we are stuck with him.

For me the trouble is that he’s been ****ing awful in all his cameos on the left too except right at the start of the season. I don’t think there’s a clear way to jump start the guy, I think with time he’ll get used to what we do and start to show himself as most players do in the end. The problem is that we dropped 65m on a 27yo, you really want less teething problems for the outlay.

But there’s probably a cap on it with this current iteration of Arsenal. As @Dennis10 says, we simply do not rotate at the same speed, press with as much risk or play with as much risk as 22/23 and parts of 23/24 Arsenal.

Low-key, he's been a bit of a disaster really lol... he's probably been worse than Viktor, it's just that Viktor looks worse aesthetically.

Would want to see him in the 22/23 team before you could be totally certain it's him though, but not good at all.

His performance against Sp**s has done some heavy lifting. But the spaces where those goals came from are the ones I want to see him take up more often. Being a danger on the edge of the box in a central position. We talk about Eze and Ødegaard being 10s but neither of them are typically where you would want a 10 to be when we’re attacking. They play more of a deep Santi role but even he - as good as he was - tended to have another forward minded midfielder in front of him of him to get the ball in central areas

about 20 minutes after typing my message i was doomscrolling on instagram and a video came up called the "mandem MSN" and it was the olise, eze, mateta highlights real from about 3 years ago. he scored some belters and there was clear link up play. That is something which arsenal dont do, we dont do that one football around the box, the Wenger years are long gone.

He’s just lost. He’s a combination player that plays in a team that don’t do combination play.

Should have got Simons, he has higher potential and would have been easier to sell if he didnt work out. We f**ked up imo.

yeah, my only hope is it is like grealish first season at city. he was poor then had a great second season as he got used to the system and what was expected of him.

Part of his performance is the way he plays, which he can improve. For example, he could have many more touches when he is deliberate with his off the ball movement. He floats into spaces, which creates such a small window for our players to play into.

The other part is the system we play in, which is not to his strengths.

Simons has turned up for like 2 games this season. I greatly appreciate what he did against City but we were all laughing at them signing him up until that point and he hasn't been any better than Eze. Eze will be fine. He's a moments player who will have his moments in what should be a historic season for our club. Your post reeks of recency bias because I highly doubt you'd have made it before the 2nd half of the City match.

I love my mercurial players. They bring that moment of magic which is why we love football, like Özil, Bergkamp, Henry, Piers, RvP, Arshavin.

I don't want him to be sanitised. He needs to play with his edge. When you have Rice and Zubi behind you cleaning up, you should be able to go on the pitch and express yourself.

You guys know I like Eze but seeing Rice having to tell him to mark up means he’s still quite early in his adaptation process. It’s a concern but I think his PL body of work means this shouldn’t be a worry until we’re deep into next season.

He’s just shown too much at this level to be a flop but it’s all going to come down to his mentality.

I think he'll be okay with time. He's not lazy out of possession he just daydreams a bit on occasions. That's definitely coachable because Trossard was very similar when he first came here and now he's very good out of possession.

I think it just comes down to Eze not being asked to do that sort of work at Palace. He was the star so he'd be carried a bit defensively. That won't work here.

If it's still like this in a year then it's time to worry as you say, but I don't think it will happen.
