He wasn’t.

Kai was terrible in midfield, whilst Eze has made some contributions to our season.
Kai is 20 passes per game midfielder. Basically off the ball midfielder. It’s amazing we went from he’s never midfielder to people suggesting him to play in midfield

Why are we not adjusting to him? we are crying out for a player like him in the final third. We are destroying him it seems like we like to destroy any sort of creativity from our players anyway.

We knew what we were getting when we bought him just ****ing adjust so he can show his quality in the final third.

He is not a 10 he needs to roam from the left.
He isn't doing anywhere near enough. He's not doing the bare minimum regardless of team shape or tactics. Top players demand rhe ball but he hides.

Never seen a bigger fall off, arteta is to blame.

He was flying at the start of the season, hattrick against Sp**s, didn't deserve to be out of the team. One defensive laps from him against villa and be was banished to the bench.

Zubi and Gabriel should also be on the bench if we consider clangers and mistakes as a reason to take people out of the team.

He looks anxious and lost. He's a baller let him play.

I was watching arteta on the touch line against Brentford, looked a nervous reck. No doubt it's not helping.
He has never been flying for Arsenal. He's had one top game a couple decent and the rest below par.

Granted I don't think he should be playing midfield for us but that's not an excuse for his performances

Much better today but have my usual complaint of him giving away the ball in bad areas and causing transitions. Maybe some leeway today on account of them being able to get away with playing with more risk. It bothers me more because he does have really good passing and control

Tbf when people were doing this to Havertz or Merino and I was defending them I'm sure you were calling me all types of names too lol.

I'm not even sure what to expect from Eze, before signing him people were going on like he's the greatest ever so it's not as suprising when it's a bit disappointing now. Can't really compare him to Kai or even Madueke since they were getting slaughtered before even signing.
Merino is someone I continuously called out for looking crazy bad while acknowledging that he needed time to adapt and the reason I allowed him that grace was because I learnt my lesson with Kai.

I’ve openly said that Kai was a lesson in giving players time to adapt, no matter how bad they look, and Kai and Merino looked like completion winners at times lol. Adaptation periods are funny.

I think he lacks the stamina to be an up and down player and never had the stamina. He adjusted his game to have these moments. Sadly in our system you have to work like a dog. Think he will be loaned out in the summer with option to sell. You not gonna get much for 28 year old flop
He can develop his workrate and stamina though. Players do it all the time. Granted, he'll need at least one off season to do so, but it can happen. In general though, I agree with you. Very low stamina player, I can see it in his movement off the ball and his workrate. I think in this league, you have to have to some sort of physical edge to be able to be impactful at the highest level. For all the talent in the world, look at how someone like Florian has struggled, and he's 5x more technically gifted than Eze. He just didnt have the stamina to consistently move off the ball and look for pockets of space to find an opening. Eze needs to hustle down this off season and GRIND. This aint vibes FC

I agree with parts of what you say here but I think people were overly harsh and nitpicking on the because they already didn't like them before signing. Especially the ex Chelsea players like Joriginho, Havertz and Madueke get a lot more hate.

He's putting in off the ball effort every performance now. Winning the ball and pressing players. He's shown on the ball he can do things none of our other players can. Needs to figure out how to consistently put it all together at the highest level.

Odegaards spot is there for the taking if he wants it and can figure it out

It's clear everyone in the team knew the narrative tonight. Eze didn't get the ball last week and didn't get into space for the ball. He was purposely getting the ball turning and facing. That's what u must do. You cannot go 15 minutes without touching the ball let alone 40 minutes. Remember we had 70 percent possession and he touches the ball twice? Yeah sorry your getting benched every time this happens. A coach cannot make u get open lol.

well I can’t be held accountable for that group’s actions lol. Believe it or not I was in the small group that were excited about ‘putting a more talented player in the attacking positions that Xhaka’ used to end up in

That’s why I’ve written him off for this season. He’s going to have to develop during the off season like how Trossard has become a much fitter, more intense, more dialled-in player over the last few years. It’s not a change that all players can make quickly.

The good thing is we already know he can have performances like today but at PL level, it’s just a waiting game now imo.

I'm thinking he hasn't got issues playing against an attacking team (you could see his performances in the CL). It's the low block he isn't used to just yet, considering where he's coming from they don't face low blocks. He needs time to figure it out, and I'm positive he will.

For now, perhaps Ode against low blocks (i.e. if he gets his mojo back) and Eze against open teams.

Its League One, we're not gonna start drawing conclusions on players true abilities at the highest level based off mediocre opposition again. We saw where that lead us vs Kairat. Lets see what happens in the league.

We have to play Eze, none of our midfielders make the through balls he made today. I don’t care if he isn’t a duel monster and runs around a lot, sometimes you need players who look for that pocket of space instead. Those through balls for assists today is what we are missing.

You think Eze will play a midfield two in a PL match? No chance.

And it doesn't change what I said. The message was clear. Get open so we can actually get him the ball.

If he goes back into walking hand in hand with his defender he will be dropped again.

The opposition allowed us to have ridiculous space but doesn't take away from Eze making two very key transitional passes. Something we don't do in any game. Including Kairat.

This is what he's capable of. Whatever nonsense people tell themselves about a deep block somehow being a mythical force that prevents a team from playing football against it, he and Arteta have got to meet halfway with him working harder to get on the ball and Arteta giving him and the team the freedom to be direct and try things that may or may not work.

At least he is a creative player who take risks instead of another side pass. yes we can complain it was only Wigan but he has that in his locker.

Arsenal Quotes

I'm prepared to be committed to the club at least until we go into the new stadium. For me, it’s important that the club goes in there and that I make sure the team are at a very good level. After that, whether it’s me or someone else, the club will be able to compete at the highest level. But for me to run away now would not be fair.
