The above is an entire clip of his cameo, the chance is around the 45 sec mark. It was Gomez who was applying the physical contact.

Very good defending/dark arts from Gomez there.

As soon as he gets the ball he’s closing the distance to the goal and opening the angle to side foot it past the keeper. The left foot touch he takes just before he’s about to shoot is perfect, but then Gomez pulls him over. Explains why everyone was asking for a foul, Gomez doesn’t play the ball at all and I feel like there would be more penalty shouts for this incident imo but it’s easier to blame the player for not shooting early.

As for the rest of the clip, it’s crazy how much better he is at unsettling defenders than Nelli even though to the untrained eye he’s not doing anything special. Just feints, body movement and using both feet to dribble.

For me this is given last season.

Yup, I watch this clip and cry a little inside knowing that had he even come on at HT I think we get a goal and win the game or at worst get a 1-1.

He looked so good. I still can’t understand why he didn’t shoot. Would have changed the narrative about that game entirely

He's still to bed in to the team, I guess he wanted to "make sure" on his debut and unfortunately was eased off it by contact. The margins are razor thin at this level.

I think had he had 3-4 90 minute games under his belt for us he buries it. Confidence and comfort are huge for new players, especially someone who grew up an Arsenal fan.

I think Eze easily adds 5+ points over a season vs current Martinelli and so we'll be battering teams every week fairly soon once he beds in. Losing 1-0 at Liverpool is annoying but Arsenal just need to focus on battering the midtable and lower teams. Eze will be extremely good with Gyok for the flat track bully stuff.

This whole 'haven't lost to a trad big 6 team' thing didn't win us any titles over the past 3 seasons so I'm actually not bothered that we lost to Liverpool away from home, especially under the context of an outrageous bit of skill from Sloboszlai. Where we lost the title in 23/24 and 24/25 was not being able to swat away the likes of West Ham, Fulham et al.

We took 4 points off of City in 23/24 and didn't win the title, Liverpool didn't beat us at all last season and they walked the league. The title has always been about picking up maximum points from the games you should win.

You are 100% correct but I would argue that given the way Liverpool have started the season defensively and given that we had the perfect player to take advantage of them having to play Hungarian Zoolander at RB, in spite of the name of the team and the location of the game, it was one that we should have won in the context of what was going on. Anfield is not quite the fortress it used to be. You can get a result there if you're brave enough.

Totally agree, which is why the starting line up annoyed me so much. Anyhoo, we move and let's hope Mik learns a lesson here. I suspect it'll take a bit longer for us to start cooking, Eze-Gyok-Saka front three has the potential to be deadly.

I want no mercy on the lower teams, we should be smashing them 3/4-0.

Man City is ripe for a smashing as well…
Arteta actually goes for it against them as well, it’s just Anfield that’s a huge mental block for him.

He's a proper baller. Makes space for himself like the great players without even touching the ball. He's gonna make everyone around him much better especially Ode. It's going to be fun watching him.

Interesting that his first performance for Arsenal came off the left, despite the club briefing all summer they primarily see him as a 10.

A player's true character is in how he plays and not in his social life. You can hide your real personality in your social life, You cannot on the field.
