I'd be very surprised if he wasn't, he wasn't really allowed to dip into the market so an increase focus on the youth setup would have been a natural inclination for Le Prof.

Regardless, my point wasn't to sh!t on Eze it was to question whether Arsène would have bought him in earlier. I actually think Olise is more of a Wenger baller of the two Palace boys, so there's every chance Eze never moved back at all under Wenger and we'd have Olise on the wing instead.

Arsène wasn't concerning himself with 13 year olds when he had to do everything from recruitment to management at the senior level. There wasn't time for that. I didn't think you were saying anything negative about Eze. I'm just saying that A) He probably wasn't profiling as the player he is now at 13 and B) Arsène would not have been looking at an age group that was years away from being able to help the senior team while he was trying to tread water and keep a top 4 spot with no money.

This is what @db10_therza was getting at when he said Eze might be our best signing of the Arteta era or whatever.

Best player of Arteta’s era? Probably not. But if he’s the guy who comes in and solves the one issue that has held us back then he definitely goes down as the most impactful player of the Arteta era imo.

I mean this as a compliment, he plays weird ( but good) balls. They're balls that throw off the opposition because they're not expecting them. Real good vision and IQ.

Unlucky not to get a goal on Sunday and he didn't shirk the physical battles either.

How in the world do you start merino over him at home vs City? Alongside injuries my only worry, what can you do if your manager doesn’t get it right? I think this squad has everything now.

Not a surprise we are among the favorites for the Champions leasgue. However I think we are close. An elite left winger and we are there. It would please me if we got a fairly unknown. Someone with a combination of Nelli's speed and Trossard's swagger.

He’s just a nightmare to defend against in general. There’s the passing like you mentioned but he also finds it physically impossible to go from A-B without throwing in at least one body feint or skill move.

It allows him to create that little bit of extra separation which is so important.

Think he would have been crucified if with the subs made had we lost. I was furious myself. I wanted Dowman for Trossard (Saka to move to the left) and Ode for Zubi early on.

Struggled to get on the ball and make himself available, instead he kept trying to make off the ball runs like Gyokeres which our team is not built to play. We play more to the feet and he became peripheral in the middle of the pitch.

He obviously is very good on transition like how Palace plays but we need to adjust our tactics a bit and Eze needs to come to the ball more too.
