My issue is people have taken two games and run with the narrative that Ødegaard holds us back, Eze is the play. Completely ignoring the other games where we struggled to score. Ignoring Chelsea, where vs 10 men, Eze was a ghost. Even vs Sp**s, until his goal, our second btw, (because people seem to think he won that game on his own), he was dreadful. Similar vs Bayern, he was quite, and then came up with the pass, so people forget he did little else. All this is well and good while he adds a G/A to a game, but what happens when he doesn't? He's a passenger, we've got rid of better players than Eze for a lack of workrate.

People take that Villa game, a game at the end of a tough week, a game where we were missing our two CBs, a game where Rice and Zubimendi, our platform to play and dominate games, were visibly exhausted, and are using it as a stick to push the Eze central, Ødegaard bench agenda.

All I'm asking for is lets wait and see, we need a bigger sample scale. If Ødegaard keep nullifying Zubi impact, then yes, change is needed, but that change isn't Eze for me, he's not at the level, this is where my boy Rogers would have worked. The new dream is Yildiz.
eze output in final third better than rogers

I told you so
Difference is Trossard has been here like three years.

Every time you rag on Eze I’m going to remind you that he’s a new player who deserves time, if anything he’s doing exceptionally well for a new signing in a very complex system. Look how badly Kai started?

We can just keep doing this

Normally, I'd agree, but Eze is 27 and this is his 7th season in the Premier League, you don't get that adaption period. You can argue he needs to get used to a new team/style, but there is no excuse for a lack of hard work, of tracking runners, of being caught dwelling, of passing to the opposition under no pressure, thats not adaption, thats just who the player is.

Kai had three years of PL experience before moving here, so did Trossard. Yeah Eze has loads of PL experience so while he is allowed time to adapt I agree that you wouldn’t give him as much time as a player who’s young and brand new to the league.

I still think even with those higher standards for hitting the ground running he’s passed. Multiple game winning/tying moments and a healthy GA total. I think he’s trending positively.

Yeah? And you are telling me the fans were patient with Kai?

Trossard hit the ground running.

He has been very disappointing. More than anything how timid and lost he looks on that pitch. Looks terrified to get involved and looks like a headless chicken in his general play.

Very worrying stuff.

He didn’t play poorly. The way we play is terrible. He took his man on, tried to slip in passes and other player were just standing around. He was much better than Ødegaard who made us worse… as the captain.

Think we would talk different about his performances if he wouldn't have that game vs Sp**s. Massively influeced it, but overall there a lot of questions mark.

You have to ask though why structurally was look better with Eze in the 10 than Ødegaard . We look like we could collapse on ourselves as Ødegaard keeps dropping deep.

He cannot play with Gyo, I don't see how Arteta doesn't see that.

Eze needs to play to much higher, false 9. And the strikers needs to drop deeper to give him the space. With Gyo it just doesn't work out. Really want to see him with Jesus or Kai ...

i also think the same....honestly he wasn't so bad in first half, not worse then major part of our players today (expect Bukayo that was very good also in first half the others had so so game) but if we compare his performance with the one of Ode...honestly i take Eze 100%

Rogers’ final ball and execution are still not at the level we need. For now, we just have to hope Eze improves with time, better cohesion and coaching.

Wenger developed similar profiles in the past, like Hleb and Rosicky. Arteta needs to do the same.

People are definitely used to only watching his highlights. He needs more time, he’s playing in a vastly different environment than the one at Palace.

I don’t like how he gets hooked early when we need goals. Even when he has a poor game he’s still a very dangerous player.

Would cook with Havertz up front I reckon. Is also better with Trossard starting...

We have quite a disjointed feel and I worry Arteta is going to make us boring again

He played great with Mateta and Sarr ahead of him.

I think we sometimes feel the need to dissect and explain everything (which is fine, it’s a forum after all) but a lot of the time the explanation is that these players need time to gel.

Lots of starting XIs with players being moved around all over, it will take time.
