📢 Rumour Eberechi Eze

You can’t compare Palace Eze and what he could do at Arsenal.

Teams totally give us the ball and just try to shut down Saka, other players in our system have more space, but no one wants to shoot or can dribble to create a shot or do much. A smart, skilful player can thrive.

A hybrid creative winger like Eze, Xavi Simons can start wide but do damage centrally. A flying wingback would help too but Calafiori might be a big help.
Exactly this. There is no reason to suggest a player with a high technical ability and flair can't fit in well in a more dominant and possession based style, especially with the right coaches and team around him.

I agree with the earlier assessment about the way he currently plays being more suited to a counter attacking style but two things:

A. We actually need that kind of player in our team and desperately at that. Yes, we are not a counter attacking team, but we've had plenty of quick transitions that we've just been unable to take advantage of as our group of attackers waste those opportunities too regularly.

B. Of course he is suited to a counter attacking style as that's all he's (mostly) had to play as for the club he plays for.

Of course he has his flaws like every player but this is an extremely exciting prospective signing. To me, it adds a lot to the team of some traits we're missing. We are already EXCELLENT at nearly everything in terms of on the pitch, we need different kinds of players now to fill in those gaps to take us up that small step we need to be a complete team on the pitch. We are not far off. And signings like this are exactly what are needed for those 5/10% improvements.

The truth is I totally rate Rice and what he brings but in attacking positions, sometimes a less clunky smoother player will be more useful. I mean who do you want on the edge of the box, Rice or Eze?

We have to make teams suffer, scared to just leave players unmarked on the edge of the box.

For me if we have wingers cutting inside to have two proper threats like Eze and Ødegaard in shooting form is very dangerous for oppositions.

Every pre-season it’s like oh we have too many players then ten games in we are crying for creative options.

The original point was if he could be a success in a bigger team, that’s very different to what you’re now suggesting which goes into very arbitrary waters.

Am I being pedantic? Absolutely.

It would be nice if you guys followed the debate to its original point before joining the yeah Trilly is definitely wrong pile-on. But that’s A-M in a nutshell.

Well the original question was really can he retain the essence of his game that he’s displayed at Palace, or will he just get lost in the functionality of the dictator. So yeah Grealish is a totally appropriate comparison.

I think it makes business sense to take advantage of the opportunity to sign a versatile player, especially in the case that Arteta doesn’t work out. Managers leave and then systems change.

Possible, this signing is not being driven by Arteta. Arteta would want Eze in the squad because he has quality, but he is not an Arteta type of player. He is creative, independent baller, who plays freely from what I’ve seen. Berta, as an opportunist, may be at the helm on this one.

I swear if the Noni signing jeopardises this one or the Rodrygo, there is no coming back from this. Of all the potentials, I think Eze is the one who would be emotionally committed and such also see a dedicated player.

Plus he is a handful of a player that gives us a Saka level output from the other side. Would genuinely would raise us levels.

If Eze is really separate from any winger signings , it will be an interesting transfer. On the left 8 you have Rice and Merino who rarely get injured. On the right 8 you have Ødegaard and possibly Nwaneri as a backup. Cannot see where Eze will play unless we sell one of Trossard/Martinelli and Nwaneri gets loaned out.

The same strategy they are talking about. Berta will push all targets to the point they can submit a bid.
the issue with this one is Palace likely won't lower their demand because they feel release clause easily can be paid. so it depend on Arsenal but if they won't push for Rodrygo then Eze should be signed.

No it wasn’t? Why are you doing this? The original question is below:
Can he do what Grealish couldn’t, go from star maverick in smaller team to successful part of bigger team? That’s the question.
Grealish absolutely did do that in his second season. He didn’t retain the essence of his game though, that’s for sure. But that’s also not what you said…

It would be a shame if the flair was coached out of Eze’s game but I expect it to happen to an extent. Doesn’t mean he won’t be successful for us though, there’s still a very intelligent and technically gifted footballer there underneath the flair. What Pep did to Grealish was a shame for football fans but from Pep’s perspective he got the technically secure, posession recyling, good decision making LW he wanted.

It will probably be similar with Eze and Arteta.

Bro I asked the question, i know what i meant. Can he step up. Grealish didn’t step up, whatever you say, he’s been a massive disappointment at City.

From all attacking transfers we can make, I'm the most excited about Eze. This might mean Nwaneri somewhere on loan.
