Confidence that many here are trying their best to shatter to smithereens with their overboard criticism. He's not the finished article but he's very useful. Nobody's overhyping him, what I am saying that he was a record breaking u21 player, very hard working and has good qualities and an asset to the team (people beginning to behave as if hard work as a professional is not critical, there are loads of talented kids that never make it anywhere). Every premiership player has some talent, you don't get selected there if you don't. So the characterisation of him as being awful at everything is disingenuous. The real question is how good is Eddie and is that good enough- not is he useless or not. That argument is only in the minds of myopic hate brigade.I think it is pretty obvious that Nketiah isn't world class, but I think he is playing with a lot of confidence right now and that's good for us.
I think his England call-up has shown him that his hard work is paying off, but he still has to keep on pushing to reach the next level. He's not an England regular, but he can taste it. He's trying to get to the next level, and I think Arteta is doing a good job managing him right now. Eddie is getting minutes and playing alongside Jesus. He's not just the backup striker. Eddie and Jesus will rotate throughout the season and can also play together.
There are definitely better strikers available, but thus far, it looks like this season is all about if Eddie can take his game up another level. Let's see if he can, but I think Arteta is trying to get him there.
