Eddie Nket14h: Answering The 📞 From England

I think it is pretty obvious that Nketiah isn't world class, but I think he is playing with a lot of confidence right now and that's good for us.

I think his England call-up has shown him that his hard work is paying off, but he still has to keep on pushing to reach the next level. He's not an England regular, but he can taste it. He's trying to get to the next level, and I think Arteta is doing a good job managing him right now. Eddie is getting minutes and playing alongside Jesus. He's not just the backup striker. Eddie and Jesus will rotate throughout the season and can also play together.

There are definitely better strikers available, but thus far, it looks like this season is all about if Eddie can take his game up another level. Let's see if he can, but I think Arteta is trying to get him there.
Confidence that many here are trying their best to shatter to smithereens with their overboard criticism. He's not the finished article but he's very useful. Nobody's overhyping him, what I am saying that he was a record breaking u21 player, very hard working and has good qualities and an asset to the team (people beginning to behave as if hard work as a professional is not critical, there are loads of talented kids that never make it anywhere). Every premiership player has some talent, you don't get selected there if you don't. So the characterisation of him as being awful at everything is disingenuous. The real question is how good is Eddie and is that good enough- not is he useless or not. That argument is only in the minds of myopic hate brigade.

Just don't understand what Eddie did to deserve this treatment. He's not responsible for the team selection, is he? Has he disrespected the fans or the team? No, he hasn't. He seems like a humble down to earth, uncomplicated London lad that tries his best to do a job for the club he loves.

Stop this "bumketiah" bs please

He's way below our level, haven't shown that he has anything resembling a level up and plays way to often. Should've been shipped two years ago.

Hard to blame anyone but him for being not good enough.

Thought i do think part of the hate is arteta picking him also

Eddie's responsibility is to play the best he can. Not to manage the team or the squad.

I like Eddie the guy, I don't think he is good enough to get anywhere near as many minutes for us as he is getting. But you are right it's on Arteta to pick the team so if the team isn't clicking with Eddie in it ultimately it's on Arteta to sort it out or drop him. I wouldn't mind Eddie if he was more in the role that Nelson has where he is more of a 3rd choice.

I don't rate the attitude towards him either. It's obvious we can do better but letting our academy products take a good swing at it first is tradition and something we've always done.

I think even if we had 2 starters for every positions there will always be a small section of the fanbase singling out somebody, thankfully Eddie didn't have much to do with yesterdays loss.

As expected stunk the joint up, we became better instantly when he went off. Typical bumketiah performance

All too negative. Only one mistake (taking the ball off Ødegaard when he should've known he was offside.
It just wasn't a match for centre forwards. Thought he was bright in the second half. And he certainly did more than Halaand did

He's not good enough to be a starter. But he's not supposed to be.

Absolutely nothing footballer at this level. Not sure why Arteta has such a crush on him. Havertz clearly would've been the better choice from the jump and showed it after he came on.

Nketiah should be a backup exclusively as long as one of Jesus, Havertz, and Trossard is available. Bring him on to play against tired legs from time to time, that's it. His role should be what Nelson's is, basically.
