Release clauses arent that normal in the UK, so maybe the legal precedent wasnt here to contest Liverpool. I do think that release clauses in general should be more standardised througout UEFA countries.

I know a lot of fans dont like release clauses, but I do think they should be required in contracts. Just put some fantasy number there if the club is genuinely worried about players leaving. Besides, if the player doesnt want to leave, it is a non-issue.

When you are forcing players to stay you just generate bad vibes anyway, and its much better to get a good payout imo.

To me the way he plays the game, he's more a forward than a midfielder at this stage. He doesn't really get involved in build up and his game revolves around going past people.

I think he can eventually develop into an offensive 8 in a 433, but he's well off that at the minute so I think LW suits him best currently.

Central, Behind Henry. He needs to be closer to goal and not out wide. You can’t quickly combine and score out wide, which is what he is good at.

If he only wants Barcelona and we have no chance then how come we keep pushing to get him? Does this mean him and his representatives keep encouraging us? Because if they were not encouraging us then why would we be so far drenched into pushing for his signature?

I think these comparisons between ESR and KDB has always been incorrect. KDB is a very unique player who is basically very good or world class in every aspect of his game: physicality, speed, vision, ball striking, ball carrying, goal scoring, passing etc.

ESR is more of a specialist player than an all rounder. He is more towards players like Ramsey or Rosicky or Nasri who can do 2 things very well. Not saying he is stylistically like them just saying these are similarly players who have around 2 big strengths rather than being ‘complete’ players.

We just need those 2 things (ball carrying and scoring goals) to be sharpened and then complimented by some maturity in physicality and the defensive basics. It will let him become a successful player in the middle because right now he doesn’t have the basics to play there as he’s still young and learning. I disagree with Rom that he needs to be a top passer for that role, in a 433 it is ok to add a different dimension to your other attacking mid (Ødegaard and Vieira who are vision players and playmakers).

The ESR slander that is occcuring in this thread is disgraceful. The guy literally turned around the team when he is was first introduced.

He just needs to grow into his body. His game will be heavily based on his conditioning and physicality.

He also has a banging shot that he hasn't even displayed yet.

I agree, he needs to built his physical condition to be able to be more dynamic with his ball carrier. Get better on his positional knowledge in the matches to help more in the defence and he would be much more influential every game. For example, Yaya Toure without his super physicality would not make it even with his good technical ability and carrying.

I didn't say he would be equally good at that department but he definitely could add that with the years. He plays with head up a lot of times. That's enough to start making good through balls with experience. I mean even I, a completely amateur who plays in the mid of field learned to make better passes and noticed that now at 32 I see lines and movements I couldn't at 20. Imagine a talented pro player at PL. Maybe you can't get better at dribbling or pace at some age, but passing, positioning, reading and vision are things get better with experience.

He's become really bitty/peripheral. I want to see him get on the ball, take his time squaring up the full back then rinse him on the inside like he can do so well.

What's happened to him this past season though? He receives the ball then takes one touch then hands it to someone else.

He's become really bitty/peripheral. I want to see him get on the ball, take his time squaring up the full back then rinse him on the inside like he can do so well.

He did a lot of this last season. He just slowed down late for whatever reason. Also it fine for him to play one touch football, but everyone else needs to be on the same page.

What are we doing about Xhaka and Partey’s positions. Anything? It would be great to pick up a player who can play both of these positions. Ideally, start over Xhaka and when needed move to Partey’s position when Partey is inevitably hurt.

We’ll have 9 attackers for 4 attacking positions. Great. We need depth. But we are still at high risk of being overrun in the midfield. Elneny is not the answer.

We're linked to Martinez & Tielemans - lots of unknowns still but they could be cover for Partey and competition for Xhaka respectively. Personally still doubt we'll get both though.
