Understand that but we desperately short currently if we had midfield replacement yesterday we could have had better chance it's cup game so not costing us much but in league it'll be problem.

I think we will get the players we need but it has to be the right ones. We have made squad space available and freed up some wages with Kolasinac, AMN and Mari going. Hopefully we get the Melo loan and Vlahovic completed as I think they are the type of players we need based on their profile.

What to expect from Edu, really? The guy got shafted by his pal Kia and then cucked by an amateur manager into making footballing decisions. His entire stint reeks of incompetence.

Let's look in retrospect:

Last season: Mari, Cedric, Willian. Partey release clause and finalized an already set up deal for Gabriel. Failed in outgoings. Handed 350k per week for an aging Auba.

This season: Got turned over by Balogun's agent and had to pay a bunch of players to leave plus is losing Nketiah on a free. , Sold Mavro for peanuts, and settled for a terrible deal for Guendouzi. Overspent on Ben White and paid over the odds for Ramsdale after letting a competent keeper go last year. Failed to negotiate Xhaka's exit which subsequently lead to an extension and a prolonged toxic relationship between players and fans. Not to mention he single-handedly broke our entire momentum and possibly season vs City. Lokonga also seems a bit of a bad solution considering we're paying double that we're getting for Guendo.

So a guy who's responsible to overhead and evaluate the squad, lets the inexperienced manager take the reigns - a manager that now has a history of mismanaging the same squad. He's a fraud, probably can't believe he's still on the job.

A bit harsh considering the conditions he has had to work under. Edu inheritied a bloated squad with a poor wage structure. It's not just the recruitment he's involved in but also the culture and vision of the club, the attitude of the players on and off the field. The Willian, Cedric and Mari signings were short term to keep us ticking over. He's more than made up for that with Lokonga, Ben White, Gabriel and Ramsdale who all look very good so far in terms of quality and attitude.

Not harsh imo. Yes he inherited a bloated squad with a broken wage structure and added 3 more players to that with trashy deals with Kia. Gabriel was already near finished when he took over.

Another issue is really poor squad planning and squad management and looks like he took the role of being Arteta's barista. Question marks over Lokonga and Ben White when you had internal solutions already. Don't see what splashing that much money on White solves that Saliba couldn't?

Yes Saliba could've had a dodgy season but let's not pretend White hit the ground running. The same excuses for White could've been applied to Saliba but with 50 million in the bank to spend on a glaring hole in midfield which may have cost us the chance of Europe this season.

Overall a pretty below-par stint where Arteta seems to have won the power struggle.

Frenkie De Jong is finished at Barca.

We should offer Dusan a contract that tells him to stay in that farmer league and a big middle finger to that poundland Haaland. Shift our attention to a real elite midfielder. A proper maestro that breaths football the arsenal way

Ben White will become England's best ball playing CB over the next year or 2. He has fitted in very well alongside Gabriel and his distribution is excellent. Saliba, although very good, is still only 20 and has plenty time to continue learning so he can replace Mari eventually in the squad. For me, that's not bad squad planning at all.

Bold statement there. We'll see. Plus we'll see if signing a future England's best ball playing CB will bring us anywhere closer to where we want to be.

Or if we could've had one of the best young defenders in the world plus one of the best midfielders in the league during the same window and be dead set for top 4.

Who's a better young ball playing CB in the England ranks right now? We needed defensive stability, that was the first stage of the rebuilding process. We were becoming a laughing stock with pundits constantly saying we couldn't defend. We look much better defensively now with White, Gabriel, Tomiyasu and Tierney. We have the best young sweeper GK in the England ranks again, who's better, and homgrown? The next stage will be to add to the likes of Saka, Smith Rowe and Ødegaard with some additional midfield and forward signings.

I don’t know much about the going’s on at Barca, but why do people talk about Frenkie being available? And why would we be an option? I know he said he thought we would be a stepping stone to Barca, but has he fallen off or something? If not and we could somehow get him he would transform the team.

Hope we sign 3 players 2359 on dd day to inflect as much stress on Hagn as possible

It will have to be like the summer, where we surprised by the incomings at the end.

They are taking this stance where they are working hard and doing everything they can. Meanwhile we know nothing and players are leaving the club one after the other.

If they get through the Burnley game, they will definitely need to have something to show after. Whether it is three 20 million signings we don't know of or 1 big 1.

10 days left and the closest signing is a backup to Ramsdale, that we doesnt really need, from a circus league.

How do we know this and who are they? Who is even responsible for bringing in players to Arsenal? All I hear is the manager giving fluff statements about if it’s the right deal for us we would do and we always want to maximise every window

I hear you.

Consider this though and I’m not defending the bloke. What if he simply went out and got the targets that the manager requested? Is he doing a bad job then?

Yes. The manager is a rookie and should not have full reign at Arsenal. His job is to make decisions that goes past current manager and suits the club. If Arteta goes tomorrow is he just gonna get whatever next manager asks for? If that’s the case his role is redundant and we going back to how clubs were run before football directors

Doesn't this mean that he's at the very least that he's semi competent at his job? Assuming that it is his job is to acquire the targets, and he's doing it.

Who's fault is it that Arteta has full reign? that can't be Edu's Fault. That surely has to be placed at Vinai's Foot.

I'm sure he's made decisions that goes past the manager, the problem is that we can't tell who is responsible for what and in no well run organization should anyone from the outside be able to do so either. So we are just left speculating at this point.

Saliba has the 2nd best tackle rate of any defender in Europe and is statistically a better passer than Ben White. If you actually care about football rather than meeting some kind of tattooed caravan rodent quota, Saliba is who you'd want playing for you over White. He's a better player, period.

His job is not to get the targets. His job is to find players in positions the club needs and decide the one that suits the club. Let’s say Arteta says the want a certain league 1 striker as he is convinced that player will improve us

Edus job is look at the player and decide with his team if he is good enough. Not just grant the managers wish. We loaned out AMN with Partey and el nenny on afcon. That falls completely under Edu as squad planning and management is his actual role. We are in position where a player flies in from Africa 12 pm and 9 hours later he is on the pitch for us. That’s just complete mismanagement and unacceptable at this level

Again I said this earlier. But it was 11th of December Auba was banished. And the club was left with 2 strikers who has 6 months left on their deal. It shouldn’t take 7 weeks to identify the need for a striker, find one that suits you and get him. When clubs are desperate they sign players in 2 days. I already know they know they can’t fix the striker situation in the summer and will be short in this position after summer window closes and look for another striker next next winter window. We have nketiah who we all can see is not good enough and has 6 months left on his deal and can’t even cash in as we need a body. It’s a complete mess

shouldn't we be glad we got both instead if arguing who's better

Saliba is really good, will replace Hilding and Chambers this summer
