Loan Umtiti and promote Medley. Take Cahill on a two year deal as insurance.

Then buy De Ligt 2020 when he ends up staying Ajax and bring over Saliba. Easy.
Rumours Juve only paying 70M for De Ligt. Combined fee of what we paid for jokers like Mustafi and Xhaka.

Guess we've gotta get used to seeing Mustafi this season again. Hopefully not as CB though, could do as a cover for Bellerin as rb.

Actually his stronger position imo as he's got the physical traits of a quality defender and his blackouts are less likely to lead to a straight goal all the time.

Don't know about the bolded. He can give goals away from anywhere. Wasn't he playing right back when he played against Sp**s?

Having doubts about Ziyech tbf. Very weird that no one is willing to pull the trigger.
Yeah noone is willing to bite. Seems to be something seriously wrong with him behind the scenes.
There is nothing seriously wrong with him. His game is one of the primair reasons Ajax got so far in the CL and won the title and cup.
  • He loses the ball a LOT because he tries to force things all the time, it can be a problem but if you look at how many assists, goals, and created chances he has I think it's worth it. Certainly now that he's used as an attacker instead of a midfielder.
  • He is very honest and direct, doesn't like politics, games or lies. If you do such things he will call you out on it, openly. The season before last there were people in the stadium turning against him, because they felt he lost the ball too much and kept shooting from distance. He reacted to that, and at the end of the season there was even a physical incident. He wanted to leave, ended up staying. They took away his #10 and gave it to Tadic, and instead of resenting him, they became a deadly duo. He turned the opinion of his doubters around and the stadium ended up scanting his name and giving him standing ovations game after game. He was even picked by fan vote as Ajax's player of the year, for the third time in a row. Over Tadic, Frenkie and De Ligt.
  • Last week he called out Morocco's minister for Sport because he lied and said Ziyech ignored him and wants to quit the national team. Ziyech said he should stop seeking attention and that nothing was wrong.
These are the only things I can think of that can be ofputting. If you bullshit him he will call you out for the world to see, and he loses the ball a lot. But you gain a player that is a true leader, literally everyone in the team speaks highly of him, every youngster that comes through says Ziyech helped them a lot and they look up to him. He works harder than anyone on the pitch and he creates and scores a hell of a lot.

Look at this, Ajax's title match after they lost to Sp**s, and went down 1-0 within a minute. Look who stood up.
This video of one game perfectly shows what's wrong and what's right with him, if you'd look at his stats you would see a lot of missed passes in this game but if you look at the footage you see why. He takes that low percentage pass and tries it, and when it works you have players with an open chance, and when it doesn't you look stupid. To me it's absolute quality.

Özil at 10 And Emery Out
Some snippets from **** Law's latest interview:

On Arsenal's financial power:

Law admits Arsenal did have the capability to spend more to bring in potential targets during that period, but the risk factor involved held them back.

“We always felt that we didn’t have the option to make a mistake because a £10m-£20m mistake would be a serious one for the club.

“Where United would take risks on players, we just didn’t have that luxury. We didn’t think it was prudent to take those risks.”

“We had the financial muscle, but the risk reward calculation wasn’t clear,” he said. “Spending a lot of money on a player that didn’t work out would have really put the club in some financial straits.

“Did we miss out on talents? Certainly. I remember sitting in meetings with Steve, Ivan and Arsène and gnashing our teeth over Thibaut Courtois. We knew he was good.

“Eden Hazard as well, we wanted to do that deal. But there was a sense of responsibility and running the club prudently, all the time knowing that every £1 we spent we had to act as if it was our money. It was very, very difficult.”

...

On Özil's contract:

Law added: “Arsenal can afford the Özil salary. What people don’t fully understand is you amortise the cost of a transfer in conjunction with the player’s salary.

“If you look at the Hazard move to Madrid. Let’s say they paid £100m over five years, so that’s £20m [a year]. And let’s say for argument sake they are paying him £15m. So that move is costing them £35m a year.

“Now, Özil is not costing Arsenal anywhere near that number. So, it’s not just the player’s salary you have to consider when managing the cost of a player, it’s combined. It’s the amortisation of the transfer, plus the salary.”

So Özil’s salary isn’t as big of a problem as it is made out to be and he didn’t hold the club at gunpoint and bullied Ivan and co into giving him a big contract after a “purple patch”. He simply signed the deal he was offered a year and half before he even signed. Interesting.

The longer I think of it, the more I'm getting convinced of this bollox actually travelling to Kroenke to demand more money being a true narrative.

We probably waited for the tour to take place for us as we're close then and it's faster to meet up

As we thought. The money was there but those at the top worried that it was their money. Imagine we broke the bank for Hazard all those years ago instead of Gervinho. Hazard and peak RVP in attack.

I honestly still think this window will be worse than or as bad as the summer of 15. Dont think the club made a plan for no CL at all.

The point where his club can properly move on will be 2021. The point where Özil, Mikky and Mustafi aren't here anymore.

By that time our rival clubs will have stolen a march on us & practically strengthened their stranglehold on the CL places making our return to Europe's premier comptetition virtually impossible.

We'll firmly be set in a cycle of tedium as a perpetual Europa League club with little prospect of improving and saddled with a weak board & apathetic players.

It'll certainly get several degrees worse before it gets better.

Then you have the issue of Aubameyang at 32, Sokratis at 33, Lacazette at 30 + the teams below us catching up year on year.

With just one point to make up on top four we should be making a move now. Not a single senior signing yet for the 19/20 season.

Think that's why we've started to go down the route with players like Saliba.

Arsenal Quotes

In a football match anything can happen, the players, 90 minutes, fantastic moves, an element of luck, talent, courage, and touch of magic and, for those who are watching these men play, the search for excitement, for a memory, for a lesson in life.
