Grealish, ESR and Saka all lining up together for The Arsenal, even Arteta can’t make that look poor.

Would have thought there’d be some solid talk on outs. Only one who’s definitely off is Ceballos. Already talk of Elneny and Lacazette getting new deals and the likes of Luiz/Willian are favourites of the manager. Suspect both will still be here next season.

Should get most of our signings done before the preseason. Money will not be a problem since Kroenke will give Arteta his credit card. If we need to make space in the squad we can buy players out because, once again, the manager will have a very rich mans credit card in his possession. So i assume that our business will be done very early in the summer. #KroenkeIn #BeExcited #Ruthless

I thought there was going to be a clear out? Yet we’re handing out new contracts rewarding our most indispensable players like Elneny. It feels like we’ve seen it all before.

The signings we make will probably be after the Euros too, once every club starts inflating their prices.

If we can't trust #ruthless how can we trust promises of transfer spend? Will see, but no way should we operate on blind faith with this lot (owners, manager, Vinai, etc.).

If we buy mainly from clubs such as Norwich and Brighton this summer window I will actually credit the club with starting to get its act together, with sort of continuation from Tierney (Celtic). We could have gone further with Edouard but I don't think that will happen now, something about Arteta saying when the Balogun contract was renewed that stopped our need to go out and buy a striker this summer, meaning the club has probably known it has wanted to keep Laca for a long time even if that is at odds with Mikel saying a decision would be made once the season had ended.

We need a mix of signings, from players already playing domestically and players from other leagues, but for players from other leagues our scouting has not always been the best in recent years and we don't buy premium players like City does, for whom it is known they will be good pretty much from the start, ad opposed to two seasons after they have been signed. There is also the matter of buying players where competition is not too hot with clubs in the Champions League, where we have to make up for that with crazy wages. For players already playing domestically that should not include Chelsea OAP's as if we are suddenly a Serie A club looking to pounce on cast-offs from the PL. Sadly we might still end up going with Bertrand, but that whole thing about cover for LB is a complex issue.

For players from clubs like Brighton.and Norwuch, I get the feeling the club has been in contact with player representatives over the last few months. The club and those targets (e.g. Buendia) knew it was difficult to force exits midseason, but these players can now put in formal transfer requests, with their clubs probably willing to accept as they will have a few months to work on replacements, not taking the risk to try to muscle players who want exits in ways richer clubs can.

If this kind of thing is the core of our transfer business this summer it will represent smarter thinking, and some credit will be due for Edu and others. It doesn't mean it will be all of our business, I can still see one key signing from a foreign league still happening, but on that also I can see why we've needed a refresh on our scouting team, as that was all going a bit stale prior, and a bit off track in terms of profiles of players targeted.

It's funny that there is all this talk of replacing Xhaka. Why would Arteta upgrade on someone who does anything he wants. 1 game a week means Xhaka will play every game. He is so robust that he can basically play 3 games a week a whole season. So if we go down to one game a week, he will start every single one. He is not a rotational player. He wont have that.

We have to sell him to stand a chance of upgrading on him.

Yeah, the likes of Holding and Xhaka are Arteta favourites. Any CM we sign this summer will be third choice.

What is going on with Nelson though, he's not openly listed for transfer as most others but obviously isn't in the squad for the next season, realistically.

Such a shame, hearing young guys other clubs praising his ability regularly, yet we'll never see it.
Him not going on loan, that part, is on him though

The relegation release clause for Sander Berge keeps going down in rumours of what is in his contract, latest is 12m. If that is the case, and we could beat out other clubs in for him at that price it could be possible to sell Xhaka this summer, and get in an additional CM on top. It is rumoured (The Athletic, iirc) that Xhaka isn't interested in contract renewal, might want out, surprising as that might be.

Interesting.

The Cedric thing is really weird. He performed to a decent level earlier in the season but it seems he's been completely frozen out.
