Will we sign an attacker before the window closes?

Remembering Havertz Missing 3 1v1s Against Villa
Rodrygo is miles better than martinelli on the left and on par with saka on the right, but I think we will have to sell martinelli to get him. Arsenal now main priority is world class striker not a world class winger

Agree with this except I think it's worth persevering with ESR for one more season.
Yeah I get what you’re saying. That’s what my heart says as well. But head says he needs to be able to deputise for Ødegaard (chance creation, not overall play/ability, no one really can do what he does in that regard) should he end up on the sidelines and I just don’t see ESR being able to do that. And if we need someone who can give us that he’ll play ahead of ESR and that imo makes it not worth enough to keep him.

Have we considered that Saka could deputize for Ødegaard? Feel like he would excel in the right sided half spaces and offer a different profile to Martin.

Think Saka could easily slot in as 10 or 8 but guess there is some reason why Arteta hasn't done it so far.

I wonder if Arteta and Edu will take a look at Morgan Gibbs-White?

Could well do so, and wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in midfield in a few years, but I wouldn’t do it now just to accommodate ESR or save a transfer

There is such a shortage of natural RW that good LW like Rodrygo/Williams are slotting at RW. No way we even think of moving a great RW around.

I was thinking that but do we have money for Rodrygo and a striker? Maybe Sesko then.

We have the money!

To be more sustainable we should focus squad cost (amortization+wages) to 85% of revenue without player sales income.

Since the last known finances are for 22/23 we can extrapolate from there.

Arsenal Revenue
22/23 - 464m
23/24 - 520m exp
24/25 - 560m exp

Amortization
22/23 - 139m
23/24 - 165-170m exp

Wages
22/23 - 235m
23/24 - 270+m exp (new signing+ CL bonus)

Squad cost
22/23 - 374m (80%)
23/24 - 440m exp (84%)

We should be ok with a squad cost of 470m next year. So a margin of 30m NET.

Considering we have many players on good salary to move this window if we could
Nelson/Nketieh/Cedric/Ramsdale/ESR/Elneny/Jorginho(?)
Except Ramsdale/Jorginho no one else has any book value. So they dont reduce amortization. If we are able to move we can reduce squad cost by around 40-45m (wages + amortization).

So basically if we sell above player we can increase the margin to 75/80m.
So a 200m window like last window is east. As that would equate to 40m increase in amortization and 40m increase in wages.

All this without even factoring in profit from player sales (As we can see getting them off books itself is huge and thus moving players not required very important). Including Player profit we can do significantly higher. The problem with that is Amortization/Wages is a recurring expense and Player profit is a one time thing. Thus not a good idea trying to offset one with other (As we can see with Chelsea as they are now required to make player profit every window)

So all in all 200m spend is very easy. Can push to 250m and much beyond that if we can move high cost players like Partey(20m/yr) or Jesus (22m/yr)

Note: All this is for FFP/Sustainability. Cash flow is a different thing all togather and we can be restricted with what we can do because of that (So Spanish release clause and payment structure can mess things up)

I love Martinelli but he’s got the football ability of a door. Pure physical player. Rodrygo is one of the great modern pure ballers.
Yeah martinelli was one we always gonna push down in the pecking order. Think he will be a useful squad player in the end
