Will we sign an attacker before the window closes?

For every example of a Boniface there’s a guy that didn’t make the step up, look at the guys Chelsea have brought in recently. It’s gamble going for these types of players, especially if they’re coming in with the expectation of improving a team at the level Arsenal are currently at.

Every signing is gamble. Chelsea signed a whole team of youngsters. We have a clear settled team and manager. Nketiah will go in the summer. Replacing him with a young striker with big potential when you already have Jesus, Havertz and Trossard makes a lot of sense. Developing and improving players is part of how a club is supposed to run. Also we Arsenal fans, it will take 3-4 decent performances for that young player to be rated here. Our fans rate havertz now, so the bar is hardly high

You’re right, but our major signings of the last few years have followed a pattern: they either have experience in the PL/CL/Internationally, which significantly reduces the risk of a flop.

For what it’s worth, the striker market is pretty dead, Osimhen is the most proven choice and it’s not like he’s the new Van Persie.

The two big areas of improvement in the team are midfield or CF, so if we sign a guy like Zirkzee up top I expect a top class CM to come in to play next to Rice.

Yep, spot on. The guys were are being linked with are downgrades on what we’ve currently got.

Pretty sure Jesus is better than Zirkzee/Gyokeres and Partey is well clear of Zumbimendi.

We should only be in for top level players now.
The problem for Arsenal in both of these title challenging seasons has been injuries to important players. This is clearly the most important issue to fix, and it's not easy to do in one window. You mentioned Jesus and Partey, the other one being injured for half of the season, after being injured last season a lot also. Partey being permacrock who has not played almost at all this season.

It's clear that this young team is already at a great level, and will develop more every year. Now it's important to add quality rotation to all the lacking areas, and that happens most easily by buying the top talents who are bargains, and can develop to top players. And/or Toney for cheap.

We been lucky with injuries like crazy. Nobody cares about vieira or freaking esr. How many league games have saka, Ødegaard, rice, Saliba or Gabriel had? If our injuries was spread more evenly on key players. We would be fighting Sp**s and Villa now. Haaland and kdb has played about 250 mins in the league together. Liverpool had Salah, Jota and Nunez out same time

You improve the squad by signing first 11 players, which is Arteta‘a strategy as well.

Last summer, we signed Raya, Timber, Havertz and Rice, all of whom went straight into the first 11.

The season before it was Jesus, Zinchenko and Vieira. 2/3 went straight into the first 11.

The season before that it was White, Tomi, Ode, Ramsdale, Tavares and Lokonga, 4/6 went straight into the first 11.

It’s a clear strategy and the main reason we’ve improved in these last few years. You improve the first 11 and the squad follows suit.

League is very weak
You’ve been opposed to Toney this whole time, but now that the tide is slowly turning against him you’re suddenly in favour of signing him. 🤣
When you see names like Šeško, Kirkzee, Goykers etc yeah I rather have Toney.

Yeah, but do you think it's as easy to improve the squad now that those players are acquired, and developed as young players? It is not.

Btw. for example Toney would go to the first eleven, because Jesus has been a crock for a while, and hasn't been good at finishing. Zubimendi would also go into first eleven, so the midfield would be Zubi-Rice-Ødegaard.

Williams might be almost Martinelli level soon, especially if you look at this season. Martinelli this season in EPL has a point per 213 minutes and Williams has a point per 156 minutes in LaLiga.

The squad is much better than in those earlier seasons, so you can't get instant first eleven players as easily. They can't all be that, and there are many areas to improve so injuries don't ruin the trophy challenges, and you can rotate well.

If we put Jesus, nketiah and Havertz on transfer list. I doubt we would get many offers. Maybe nketiah. But you really think there are fan base of any significant club thinking we should sign havertz or Jesus. They would improve our striker situation

All the strikers we linked with would get in the team. And Arteta will get credit for improving them in weeks and taking them to next level

As the team gets better, the group of players that can improve is gets smaller and smaller.

Am I convinced Zubi is significant upgrade on Jorginho (and Partey for the 10 games he’s fit)? No.

Is Toney significantly better than Jesus, or what Kai offers us in certain games? I’m not sure either.

For the winger, I’m not against going for a Williams or a Neto, but only once we’ve addressed CF and CM.

Doesn’t Rate Any Of Our Attackers
Jesus will never be that guy. So what’s the point buying an Eddie replacement just to be backup to a guy who isn’t it? The club should be looking for a long-term top class striker.

Smart move would be to get someone on the up and up to rotate along with Jesus and sometimes Havertz and we move Gabriel the season following that.

Minimizes the risk and still leaves us the option to go big after someone if they become available/burst into the scene.

CF market is really poor right now.

Arsenal Quotes

When I first came to Arsenal, I realised the back four were all university graduates in the art of defending. As for Tony Adams, I consider him to be a doctor of defence. He is simply outstanding.
