We clearly have a lot of good signings we can make at RB. I think some people are saying yes we certainly need a new RB Chambers isn’t good enough, while some people are saying there isn’t many out there.

Imo you can sign a different type of RB to Chambers who has potential but doesn’t necessarily become ready for nailed on starting. He can compete with Chambers and give us something different. Could be Mazraoui, could be Baku or Aarons. Someone who we don’t have to expect to be a nailed on starter right away but has really good potential and can eventually take the spot from Chambers. That would be clever business imo.

The biggest position of concern for guaranteed quality is CM. I think AM and RB can be high quality investments like Matheus Pereira for AM and Baku for RB. You then sign a marquee CM (my pick would be try to sign Phillips or Tielemans) if you really have funds to spend.

Having watched Arsenal last season and the pre season game vs Milwall, i think Koopmeiners is the best fit for the LCM position. Hes left footed so can fill in for Tierney as he bombs forward. Set piece specialist, which we are lacking. In general play, he's a slightly more dynamic version of Xhaka, which is really what we want.

I think you are spot on with the RB options.

Tielemans would be fantastic at CM, but I have a strange feeling he looks down on us.

I'm intrigued to know what profile we are actually going for at cm. With Xhaka likely to leave, we must really have an idea of who we want to replace him and if you are looking at leadership being a prerequisite, Tielemans would fit the bill.

We should be looking at a 24/25 year old.

In the premier league its Tielemans, Neves, Ndidi, Anguissa, Phillips.

Abroad its Kessie, Nehaus, Bentacur, Orel Mangala, Eggestein, Soler, Fabian Ruiz.

What are we actually looking for to go next to Partey? A destroyer like Bissouma?A deep lying play maker with long passing like Neves or Koopmeiners? A tenacious short passing tackler like Caqueret? An elegant 8 who is creative and able to score goals but weaker defensively like Neuhaus?

We will find out soon I guess.

Its so hard to predict because we have been linked to all kinds of midfielders, whether that be at AM or CM. I would obviously like to bring in a CM who can turn under pressure and create transitions with a drop of the shoulder. Even though Partey operated really well next to Xhaka, I would be dissapointed to see Neves come in. I like Bissouma but I think people are overrating his passing range.

There's a lot of interesting options at CM, but not many sure fire fixes. We either continue the Xhaka dynamic with Neves who we know will give us a certain level, or take a risk abroad. That's why I would rather spend a high proportion of our remaining budget on Phillips or Tielemans. These guys are PL ready and bring slightly different skillsets dependng on what you want. They are both players who can be box to box (albeit being different types) or sitting CMs. They can defend, pass and shoot very well as well as dribble/retain the ball under pressure (albeit maybe not as well as Bissouma). So it just depends what we want and if we have money to splash (the club have surprised us transfer spend wise for 2-3 years now).

I would certainly like us to sign a CM from the PL, who is ready to be plugged in and played. I wouldn't mind this PL focus we have right now in terms of transfers. People are angry with it because of the players we are being linked with like Ramsdale or Abraham. But imo if you want to make a marquee signing, its always best to buy within the PL because you know what you're getting. And on the other side of the coin, you have a lot of fantastic players being relegated nowadays and it poses a good opportunity. If you floated the choice of Phillips/Tielemans and Pereira to Arsenal fans (a fantastic mixture of a marquee signing and a smart signing) most of us would be happy. That could maybe be done for maybe 90m. I would prefer that to Ramsdale and Abraham for 70m thats for sure.

So I want something like Baku/Aarons, Phillips, and Pereira to solve our team for this summer. Would cost like 130m so not cheap would make us a serious side again imo.

65 million on Tielemans would be worth it. Premier league ready and perfect to go next to Partey.

I think it would be tough to sign both Tielemans or Phillips just because of the managers they play for. I think BR played the main role in getting Tielemans permanently signed at Leceister while Phillips really likes Bielsa. Lets see I guess but would prefer offering silly money for them over Maddison for example.

Leicester are a selling club if we offer 60m+ you never know. But yeh pipe dream. Chance of getting Phillip though if we stump up the cash.

Wouldn't go for Philips just yet.
