Yeah that's a good point. I think defensively and mentality wise we're robust as we can be.

But our lack of chance creation is worrying, hopefully it clicks though.

Watching that game live, it was an interesting game, I've got to say the truth Liverpool certainly did look the better team for most of the game, created loads more chances but Leno saved us & put in an outstanding performance, got my MOTM by far. The early chance Nketiah & Cedric had we should have scored then, there were 1-2 other chances we should have scored with aswell actually.

Gabriel & Holding put in a strong backline performance I thought aswell. Pepe was a bit meh, I like him not denying that & think he has good potential but probably plays better on the right cutting in, makes me wonder why he played on the left today & Willock on the right? I also thought maybe Arteta is a bit too negative sometimes, Nelson had a very good performance against Leicester but he takes our most creative CM off & puts our most defensive CM on & leaves out Nelson completely? Made it look as if he wanted penalties in the end.

AMN's penalty was great, one of the most composed penalty takers ever, Pepe's laugh after his penalty along with AMN after their penalties made me laugh a bit myself, almsot as if they had that planned after their penalties haha.

Also, the fact that Klopp played his head captain & main CB in VVD & started one of his top front line players in Salah then played Milner aswell tells me that Klopp really rates us now & thinks we are a decent enough team, we rested our main captain & front line player in Auba but Klopp started his.

I need to rewatch this game, because I don’t think I’ve seen these improvements Arteta is speaking of. Yes we won the game in the end but we actually looked very shaky overall in my opinion.

That said, our containment strategy remains a means to an end and it has my backing. But I want us to move to our a better shape once we get in the players we need.

I dunno man.. we were extremely fortunate. Had Minamino not hit the bar, it would have been game over. Leno saved us single handedly in other moments, but I don’t see any progress in this game. We did nothing of note other than ride Lady Luck all game.
And yes of course we are a massive work in progress

If I have to choose a player in the world that I would bet my monthly salary on to score from penalty spot it would be AMN. Love his nonchalance :) F*** off Jorginho!

The referee kept screwing us all game. It was the most blatantly rigged refereeing I have seen in a while. We won inspite of this. We would have been clear winners otherwise. Arteta has figured out the weakness of Klopps system. He invites the press and overloads the defencw to ensure we beat the press and get the ball to our fast runners. A player like Giroud who can won the ball in the air and pass quickly, in the Laca role would really make this plan work.

It does seem that the 3-4-3 is primarily designed to evade the press and counter it. Seems like he is on to something.

Nothing too potent, couldn’t be arsed to make a proper one. Had a quality instant coffee. Just an excuse to eat a brownie tbh

Shades of Lauren in how he exudes confidence in his run up. I think it’s unsettling for keepers.

I agree, top keepers surely can see which player is a bag of nerves and act accordingly. On the other hand guys like AMN who look like they don't give a damn about the penalty are difficult to read and that could be confusing even for the best keeper.

I love a good penalty shoot-out, yesterday Milan - Rio Ave was quite interesting.

Me too the, as far back as I can remember. It’s another game altogether and makes it an individual sport which I love. It shows another side to players that you may not have thought they had, like AMN. Who thought he had that cold hearted killer about him before pens?

That's a good point, it could be vital during our cup runs. IMHO we have more penalty specialists in our team, at least to my liking. Lacazette, Pepe probably would convert virtually every penalty, I'm confident about Cedric as well and David Luiz. Auba should also be there but I still can't forget that miss against Sp**s :) I like that Willock wanted to shoot the deciding one yesterday, shows his mental strength even though it wasn't most convincing (but still not easy for the keeper).

It could add a whole new dimension to our cup gameplan, we can play safe. If only Leno could find his inner Handanovic we should be favourites in every shoot-out.
