Trossard was good value but we should have moved to upgrade the left pretty much the window after. The main thing we lack is quality, you can argue nearly every Arteta signing is poor or hasn’t lived up to the hype. I’ll give Arteta White, Rice, Timber and Raya. After that it’s dicey.
You can't say this team lacks ego when we smashed City by five goals. We lack technical security. We beat City because we outran their midfield and blitzed them on the counter. Newcastle was a test for our brain, and we clearly lack that. Our brawn is nothing compared to the Geordies.I think the main thing we lack is ego, as simple as it sounds...no one in our team can carry themselves, the way the likes of Isak and Guimares carry themselves...they feel like the main men in a team, we had no one on the pitch that felt like that yesterday.
If Arteta wants to win he has to allow himself to deal with difficult players, as that's what the best players are...what would Mikel have done with Henry and Vieira when they want a little more freedom on the pitch, sell them?
That's the big thing holding him back as coach, a seemingly flat-out refusal to work with players that may question him.
Martinelli Saka white all going to Dubai camp.
No news about Tomi yet
Didn't seem he with squad

Too many nice boys in this team, a lot of people call newcastle thugs but I would love it if we had a Bruno G and Joelinton elbowing and chokeslaming opposition players to make us more competitive and give us and edge on the pitch, instead we have Ødegaard (our captain lol) fretting and Havertz crying if the atmosphere is too hostile, you need ****s all over the pitch to win, guys who have the confidence to not be phased by anything.Beating City was fun and all, but also let's not act like this is City of the last 2 seasons either...best players injured or declining, everyone taking points of them and they aren't even fighting for the title this season.
It's like trying to beat Arsenal in 2004 v 2006, teams can change quote a bit in even just a few years.
True ego is stepping up yesterday when everyone thought we were out and a trophy is so close going "We are winning this semi final no matter what", instead all our our players shrunk again.
Don't think it's a coincidence why we keep failing to win trophies with this current team since 2021, lost too many big games when it's mattered since then as our players and manager are still lacking something mentally.
City in the league the last two seasons, Bayern and Sporting in Europe, Liverpool/Newcastle/United in the cups... lack that ego when push comes to shove.
So you are not just reinforcing my point that we shouldn't play with starters this league when we have such a thin squad and now we get another attacker injured?
Fa cup is a proper trophy, league cup is a tinpot trophy. Not into this "FA and League Cup are irrelevant" crap. We've only won 4 FA Cups in 20 odd years FFS.
Winning trophies becomes a habit for successful clubs in my opinion. Couple more of them in the last 2-3 years and I bet we'd be more confident in getting over the line in the league.
Shut up you melt. This competition is ass. This is why we shouldn't be too excited about single victories(especially over piss poor teams that can't even beat united at home) and be more concerned about matches that really matter, that really affect our chances of winning trophies. This scrub team is at its best in low pressure games that does not really matter in the big picture like the city game when we are already far behind liverpool. But when it comes to the crunch in matches that REALLY matter this team ALWAYS crumbles.

Don't see many teams beating City 5-1.
Sp**s beat them 4-0 not that long ago
As I said it was a good win, but we didn't beat them 5-1 at their best last season or the year before.
So we agree. That was my point, we shouldn't do that and is worse because we have no depth. Just play the kids with Jorginho, Kiwior, Tierney, Sterling, etc. That way our subs have more minutes so the get match fitness and kids get more opportunities to show what they are made of.No, I agree with that, for sure. I like when the backups/reserves have a competition they can be the drivers for and more invested in the results. Gives them an opportunity to prove themselves and keep fit. I hate that we just play our starters for everything (and still do poorly).
We wouldn't beat that city with the attackers we have currently.Sp**s beat them 4-0 not that long ago

Why does it have to be qualified with a "but" though? Can't we just enjoy beating that cheating lot 5-1?
