Out of curiosity. When Martinelli got injured and came back, how quickly was he integrated, because I remember the whole Arsenal world breaking down to the point Arteta said "I love Gabi more than you do". To say the least his reintegration was perfectly done considering the player he has become.

Then there was Saliba. We did mess up and admit to messing up securing his loan. However the subsequent loans after that basically allowed him to make mistakes away from our gaze. We saw clipped up positivity like his tackle vs Mbappe but probably missed all of the actual ironing out. The subsequent loans literally came about from Arteta seeing him in training and saying he isn't ready.

Now with ESR. Yes he didn't play last season and he hasn't featured much this season, but is there a possibility that we are building him up? New system, new position, post injury, low confidence, new physiology. From what I have seen, he seems to be more combative defensively. I don't remember ESR ever trying to use his body to barge people off the ball. He seems to be doing that now.

Was KDB always physically robust in the challenge? He effectively turned from a wide playmaker to a 10 to a box to box with defensive intensity.

ESR has so much talent and potential. Only those who seem him every day will know whether he has a chance at Arsenal because he certainly offers things that nobody else does. He will have opportunities to play I feel.

While all this is true but if the club currently gets an offer close to 50m both club and player are likely to take it.

Saliba was all Raul and an excellent buy, I even had the inclination at the time that it was a great purchase; everything being said about him was nothing but unanimous positivity.

So iirc Raul was there when we bought Partey but I'd say Arteta definitely wanted Partey, as I think there were rumours swirling around about some plea he made to Kroenke so that we could activate the release clause (then again they might have been bs or I might be wrong). So perhaps Arteta takes credit too.

Magalhães...again..Raul was there, was it all Raul though? I feel like we know less about who wanted the player and such?
No doubt, Saliba is wonderful and credit o everyone who brought him here. Iirc, Arteta seemed more invested in Aouar over Partey and rumours said Partey was more an Edu signing. Gabriel was signed after Raul left so who knows how much work he did there? My biggest regret is that we let Bellingham slip away when he was all but signed. The transfer business has been good bit we've spent an awful lot to barely move the needle in some area eg GK. Back to ESR, I'd like to see how useful he can be before simply selling.

Sad how little impact he has at all now really, wasn't that long ago that he and Saka were seen as equals for us and carrying us equally.

...this is kind of the differences in work from Emile and Bukayo at Arsenal 😅

Sorry but ESR will be 24 in the summer. It’s clear he is not being built for anything and he is behind several players in each position. He consistently stays on the bench without minutes. And if everyone is fit it’s really between him or Nelson who makes the bench. Good chance he won’t even make the bench

Agreed, he was massive for one season but unfortunately Arteta doesn't favour him, we should let him go and should get a good fee too!

I could offer ESR for Joe Willock maybe more some money if something even. I fell Joe Willock is a better fit for Arsenal's team.

If we get iwobi money for him i would sell him. Villa were interested before. Sell and use the money for Toney or Neto in January.

That being said, if he stays and gets some consistent game time I can see him develop into a useful squad player.

There definitely could be an element of building him up, like with Martinelli, the only concern there would be he was always much more expressive when commenting on Gabriel. When questions arise with ESR it's more 'yeah he's great...got to stay fit though'.

And I'm not sure we can really complain if that's the reason he gets moved on. The late Wenger era was plagued by us getting screwed over having to rely on players that had never proven their fitness.

Had Timber been fit, Smith Rowe and Nelson would have not made it into the match day squad for the premier league (9 players).

Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Jorginho, Zinchenko, Havertz, Vieira, Trossard and Nketiah.

Luckily for ESR/Nelson, Timber is injured for the majority of the season, so only one of two players (Nelson/ESR) can make the match day squad for the Premier league if the entire squad is fit and healthy (Partey/Trossard/Saka/Saliba).

UCL is different, bench can be up to 12 players for the match day squad so both Nelson/Smith rowe can be part of it.

I do wish the bench was 12 players in all competition tbh. Makes so much sense. The tactical part of the game with the subs is expanded in this way and the entire squad feels involved as well.
