I can't stand Eric Dier but his reasoning for leaving Dier out was a lack of gametime so far with the Spuds and then he tried to justify Maguire being in despite it being the identical situation with him at United.

I am all for treating England like a club side with settled players, picking largely on England form rather than club form / appearances, however this squad is a step too far.

Maguire could be argued to stay in, Phillips however needs some games as should not be depriving willock or jwp of a chance.

Henderson however is a joke, he should have retired when moving to Saudi, out of fairness to players coming through but also to take himself out of the public eye. His explanation as to why he went has lost any credibility he had from his LGBTQ work, he needs to quietly fade away rather than come back to the pantomime villain every time he gets near the pitch for England

I genuinely don't understand who the interview is for. Nobody believes that crap. It's like saying you like Kim Kardashian for her intellect. Just say you went for life changing money. A footballer's career is very short. No rational person faults someone for taking 700k a week when they're not worth 10% of that. My sister is gay. Whole point of international football is it's basically the all-star game of football, people want to see the best performing players together. JWP is literally just a better version of Henderson at this point, in good form, and Henderson has no future on that team. The **** is the point in calling him up again?
