He is a knight guys. Show some respect.
Yeah but did he actually kill any dragons like a real knight would?
I don't think he's even saved a single princess. Unless saving Phil Neville from a non-league career counts.

Not a very good knight when you consider the company he keeps:

pray to god we don't get taken over in a leveraged buyout: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/dav...og/2010/jan/06/manchester-united-glazers-debt
[United's] ownership has drained the club of huge sums of money. In only three years up to 30 June 2008, the closing date of their most recent published accounts, United became liable to pay a staggering £263m in interest alone. Despite that, the capital lump sum which United owe to banks and hedge funds has actually snowballed by £159m, from £540m in 2005, to £699m in 2008.
An estimated £29m was paid in professional fees [for the refinancing of a portion of hedge fund debt at an astronomical 14.25%], principally to bankers, lawyers and accountants.
The club and the Glazer family's spokesman have insisted that despite the interest payable, £69m in the year to 30 June 2008, which helped push United from an operating profit of £80m to a £43m loss, Sir Alex Ferguson has money to spend.

make no mistake, the glazers' exit strategy is merely a game of musical chairs where the next buyer straddles the club with even more debt. united will never get out from under this debt and it amounts basically to a massive transfer of wealth from united's supporters to the banks and hedge funds who funded the takeover, and the investment bankers and corporate lawyers who advised the transaction and subsequent refinancings.

Some of us has been saying this for a long time but people refused to believe it just a year ago. Their financial situation is beyond horrible at this stage. The Glazer's basically took one of the most profitable businesses in the entire sports world and turned it into a huge mountain of debt that generates an annual interest on their loans that is larger than a mid-sized clubs entire turnover. People lobbying for the likes of Usmanov at Arsenal have no idea what they're wishing for.

He has done a decent job with Peterborough to get them to the championship though with such quick double-fire success in promotions they were always going to have difficulty. He was wise to pick another championship job though, what with a few EPL managers losing their jobs recently he could have become another Ince taking a step too far too soon, you have the right idea mind he only gets as much media attention as he does because of his family tie-ins.

In an attempt to try and make Football Talk more active in a similar fashion to that of Arsenal Talk, we've decided that it's best to lock this thread, rather than keep all discussions on English Football confined to one thread. Hopefully this will lead to more active threads and discussions. The other specific league threads are there, but have been unstickied. Hopefully when conversation on these subjects is relevant, they'll be bumped.

You should see the first contribution towards this any second now.
