I don't think Arteta wants Nwaneri to play more like Ødegaard, per se, but I do think he wants Nwaneri to elevate his game so that he starts dictating the tempo a bit more. Sometimes Nwaneri seems so offensive minded that he can kind of become a passenger until someone feeds him a pass in a dangerous position. Nwaneri's ability is so high that he needs to have a bigger influence on matches.

Similarly, I think Arteta wants Ødegaard to play a bit more like Nwaneri too. Ødegaard's best season happened when he was taking up great attacking positions and scoring goals.

I think Arteta wants Nwaneri to also take up some of Ødegaard's positions, and he wants Ødegaard to also take up some of Nwaneri's positions.

Maybe they should have a kid together so Arteta can rise him as his son

I’ve toyed with the idea of moving him on, but he’s got more talent than the majority of our attacking players and I don’t trust Berteta to bring in anyone as good.

Jesus, Martinelli, Vieira, Gyokeres, Madueke, Kai should all be out of the door before him.

the only way i see him staying is Arsenal sell Gabi move Eze as LW and Ethan will compete with Ødegaard.

i think it'll depend on if we get big fee for him and if we find some LW. i don't mind him staying there room to improve but he has more tech than most of our attack

Arteta might be here for a decade or two, so the next phase of the project might be biologically creating perfect players in a laboratory, and then developing them through the academy and into the first team.

Arteta does not know how to develop attacking talent or even buy quality attackers lol. With better attacking talent, we win the UCL and league cup last season. City were **** for most of last season and still won two trophies cause of their attacking talent.

Why then does that mean he's better as a winger? Cause he's not going to be able to dribble past players in the wings to put in a cross. People are kidding themselves if they think he has the tools to be a great winger.

He is obviously destined to be a 9. His best attributes are his ability in tight spaces, his first touch and his shooting technique, he also has good movement and instincts around the box. He just needs to get more robust and improve his conditioning. But don't know if he'd be given the right opportunities to improve here. Wenger would have turned him into a star.

How can we be considering moving on a player like this? It just makes me so angry. We should be prioritizing his development.

This Nwaneri saga feels very deja vu. Didn't we go through all this last summer?

Anywho, selling a 19 year old with obvious talent (although not ready now but how many are at that age?) shouldn't even be up for discussion.
Loan him and loan him again if there is no space for him.

Unless he pushes to leave permanently that's different, good riddance if that is the case.

Im thinking about Foden right now, not only because his and Nwaneri's games are so similar, but I wonder if the way Foden developed was for the best for him. We praise Pep for not overplaying him as a youth, but his development has also stagnated big time and the mental and iq part of the game never seemed to develop to the extent it should have. Maybe he could've used some more minutes during the most important part of his development. Maybe he'll feel that staying at City stunted his growth. Could Nwaneri feel that way if he doesn't get the game time needed to develop at that stage?

Thing people keep forgetting is that you need game time to develop at that age. We can't just keep him as a "just in case" because he's so talented, he'll never take the step up we all think he can make. It wouldn't be fair on him to completely stunt his career like that. At some point or another, he needs to break into the main rotation within the next year or 2 max. Do most of you see that happening? Because honestly, I don't. And its not his fault, obviously. But Im trying to be realistic.

We should keep him and he should be the Ødegaard understudy. Even if he doesn't flourish this season, he won't lose any value but he might kick on and become starting quality here

Particularly when that technical ability is something we lack across the rest of the attack. Mik doesn't seem to rate it. Unless we have long term injuries, there are probably too many players centrally at the moment, its a tough call. Might not want another loan move, last one was horrondeous for his development.

Idk man, I think you have to be a blind man to not rate Ethan's technical ability. I think it's been the other stuff that has Ethan requiring to prove himself to Mik.

That being said, Mikel said some really positive things about Ethan post-Como, especially the bit about him getting that experience at Marseille even though it didn't really work out.

No i mean Mik doesnt rate technical ability relative to some other player attributes. Wenger would made it his personal mission to develop Ethan, given his love of techncial players, Mik is just different.

Wenger had a midfield of tiny, slow ballers (after 2007) whilst Mik has a midfield of mobile, physical duel winners. Shame neither have been able to get the balance just right.

He is a transfer junkie. He doesn’t rate academy players because they are not expensive. Young players also like to take risks which is the thing he is most afraid in the world.
