Hopefully. Not sure he'd get meaningful game time in the league if we were to loan him. He's not good enough off the ball for the bottom clubs camped in their own half and not good enough yet on the ball for the teams above. Feel he'd be great in the Bundesliga. There's so much space for attackers in that league he'd score lots which would improve his confidence and get senior minutes as well.

A loan move makes sense. We are stacked with 2 players in every position and with Jesus back it’s more competition for wide positions. He might be 18 but not all 18 year olds are the same. This guy is good enough to play regularly and if it’s not happening here then a loan move it is.

"Not looking good long term for him" is very different to a loan option being discussed.

I rarely agree with you but on this occasion share your belief that there is a concern building this season. He isn't getting the minutes he would perhaps hope for, despite there being an injury crisis in attacking positions. Now players are on their way back it looks as if these minutes will be further restricted.

I also agree with you that his age doesn't make this a concern, it does.

Yes he is only 18 and plenty of time to develop, but it looks unlikely this will be done from within the Arsenal first team any time soon. I expect him to drop down to the U21's some point soon simply given it's an easier decision than leaving out more established players he is competing with for a place on the bench.

Nwaneri's issue is not one of form per se, it is that we have stacked our team with talent. If most are fit then he is third or fourth choice for the positions he can play, I still feel we have signed too many players.

Another issue suggesting a loan would work for the club is that Dowman is meeting expectations thus far, he also warrants fast-tracking - there is no way he can go out on loan! Dowman will go down to the U21's first, Nwaneri is in part blocking his path to the substitutes bench.

A bloated squad and Dowman's continued development mean a loan, however unpalatable it would seem to be just a few months ago, makes a lot of sense - even though he is just 18.

Returning to the initial point, it is still looking good for him long term. He is an enormous talent who has time on his hands. It just feels as if his most likely route to a first team starter role is via a successful loan elsewhere. It will be interesting to see if this thought process is shared by the management.

If Dowman continues to impress, and if others can remain fit / not moved on then a loan makes more sense. I feel Jesus, Trossard and Martinelli may be considered for moves next year, if they do move on that may provide more of an 'in' for Dowman and Nwaneri to feature on at least the bench again.

A loan will work for him. But it will lead to him getting consistent football and realising this is what he needs and won’t want to go back to barely playing. Also while you are away the players who are here everyday has the chance to change their status unlike you. So you already at disadvantage

Then you have the transfer window. If a young exciting talent comes along the club is not gonna let other teams have free go and lose out because of Ethan. How Ethans career this season is playing out is very common for young talents in stacked teams. Gets minutes with injuries, the squad get stacked and the minutes disappear and they go out on loan before being sold as they simply need playing time to develop and he just won’t get it here

I feel the same way. He just doesn’t have that wow factor whenever I watch him, especially compared to Dowman. Maybe it’s because Arteta’s system doesn’t really accommodate his skillset.

Maybe he’ll eventually develop into a De Bruyne-type player, but for that he needs to be playing every week at a decent level with a good coach.

In Arteta’s system, ST and RCM have less freedom than other positions. Nwaneri needs to be calmer to play effectively, I’ve noticed he often rushes his decisions or tries to dribble past players unnecessarily.

I’d rather see Ethan given opportunities at Arsenal than being sent out on loan. It’s frustrating that a player with his level of talent isn’t being utilised at all, and the situation feels poorly handled.

The Villa game yesterday was crying out for Nwaneri in the second half. His dribbling and energy could have caused Villa all sorts of problems and added some unpredictability to our attack.
