Ethan Nwaneri: New Nwan-era?

I don't really see the Foden comparison at all. Some even say he plays like Ødegaard which I don't think is true. He looks like a combo of Wilshere and Ramsey to me with his approach (the best aspect of both their games). His style is also similar to some of the best Hale End graduates like Saka, Nelson and obviously Wilshere. @MutableEarth compared him to Trae Coyle, a prospect who was also very highly rated and had a great first touch and robust physique, derailed by a plethora of injuries. Initially when he broke through I compared him to Rooney, but he doesn't have the overwhelming explosiveness of young Rooney. I even compared him to Joe Cole, but Cole had a bit more flair, Nwaneri does everything in an efficient manner, but still has some finesse sprinkled in. At times his technique reminds me a bit of Hazard, but don't know if that's a great comparison either.

Yeah I get your comparisons, you can see how special he is.

I think he has to evolve into an all-phase midfielder which would enhance his value and versatility on the pitch. He could contribute both defensively (his upper body is impressive) and offensively. This role would enable him to control the tempo of the game, link up play across all zones, and make decisions in various phases of the match.

The role of #10 will limit him and confine him to specific zones and responsibilities. He needs a broader role to maximize his skill set.

If anything Dowman looks more of generational talent than Nwaneri, every of his compilation or highlights at that age of 14 makes you goes wow.
At that level, yes. I too think he could be a real star, but he's 14. A lot can happen and progression isn't linear even without disruption from external factors. I've learned over the last few years that life can out of nowhere take some unpleasant 180s that completely derail things professionally, without anyone being at fault. And for a teenager, particularly a physically mature one, there are hundreds of distractions - let alone bumps in personal development, injury etc that change the picture quickly.

Dowman looks a bigger, stronger, slightly less clean and quick footed Nwaneri at this point in time - we shall see.

With Nwaneri thing is he seems to have a pretty high ceiling when it comes to end product, so you want him to be in the final phases of play too. He is just so talented in a lot of different areas. I can see him developing as a 8, 9 or 10 depending on the system and management.

Some people have been comparing Dowman to young Kaka or even young Havertz in terms of style of play and physical build. Dowman plays more aggressive than Nwaneri and always seems to want to be the difference maker, maybe forcing the issue a bit at times, but it's obvious every time you watch him play that he is supremely talented and seems like he can do anything he wants on the ball at that level. I don't think 14 year old Dowman is stronger than 14 year old Nwaneri. He is definitely more explosive in his play and always willing to take risks. He is a high risk high reward type of player while Nwaneri is more clinical in his approach.

That’ why Dowman should be our #10 and Nwaneri our all-phase midfielder 😁

He has not played enough to justify what Arteta said. Let’s see how much he’s used in their whole busiest period of the season. Think there was space for esr. They just didn’t think ode was gonna get injured

I think we ultimately let ESR go due to the injury history, unfortunately. There is a very good player there, but it is difficult to rely on a player that is a bit brittle. Fulham has taken him off at the 60-70 minute mark more or less every time he has started.

There is no reason Nwaneri shouldn't have been able to start against Shaktar, Bournemouth, Southampton and came on earlier against teams like Leicester and Newcastle.

Good for him to go to Fulham, less pressure than in Arsenal and less matches to play than in Arsenal (they don't have European matches).

Fully agree. Nwaneri keep floating from a kid for the future to why it was right to get rid of esr. We left us short with ode injury and tats why we are 7 points behind.

do you really think with ESR we could win Bournemouth game (expecially after Saliba red card) or with Newcastle? for me no.

The value of Ode for our team is huge, and as we could see also last year with ESR or Vieira in the field Arsenal performances were much lower. Esr is a good player, but IMHO very overated from many Arsenal fans. is doing quite well in a midstanding team as Fulham, that i think is more his dimension as level of the player.

Ethan is a special talent, that also has been wanted from City and i imagine other top teams in England, was IMHO necessary to show to Nwaneri that we really trust on him giving him the space in the roster selling esr and vieira, because as we could see he probably have world class kind of talent.

at this point the question remain why Arteta haven't played as starter Ethan when Ode was injuried?
for me the draw vs city and the win vs Sp**s with Trussard that played decent game replacing Ode , convinced the coach to have more conservative approach with Ethan . probaly he made mistake cause he showin league cup and in the PL cameos that was already ready; but as Arteta explained in the press conference after Forest he prefered more gradual approach

So our poor run of 4 league game of no win run played no part

Sure it played a part but It happens you have times when things don't go your way.

Red cards & injuries played a bigger part.

Only Newcastle away was a poor performance with 11 men.

Bournemouth are very good at home this season beaten City & Sp**s. We were down to 10 men early.

Chelsea away is a decent draw in isolation & Liverpool at home we deserved to win.

As said you have to give credit for the start of Liverpool.

Arsenal Quotes

Right from his very first match, when Patrick Vieira was as yet unknown to the English public, he showed just how talented he was. No one disputed his ability, and he gave me the credibility and the hold over the club that I needed to take it in the direction I wanted. He and Emmanuel Petit became a duo that would remain forever etched in the memories of Arsenal fans.
