Ethan Nwaneri: Nwan Of Nwan

I think ya'll are reading way too much into this - imo Nwaneri's minutes are simply being carefully managed. He played *a lot* during that period where we had no-one else. The situation with MLS is completely different, he pretty much has the physique of a 25 yo whereas Ethan by all accounts is still very much growing into his body.

The fact that apparently he was close to leaving as a youth player does worry me and he has the Chido agent so who knows what is going to happen.

We'll know for sure around this time next season but I can't help but worry. Arteta has history of icing players who aren't first XI players.

The only players he really rotates are the ones on a similar level to the starters e.g. Timber/White, Calafiori/MLS, and Trossard/Nelli. If there's a drop off in level they may as well not exist to him but that's not fair when the drop in level is due to age and inxeperience.

We will know earlier than that if he doesn't sign a contract extension this summer.

This.

Raheem Sterling is a prime example of someone played into the ground from 17.

His legs had gone by 28/29.

That are players who relies on their speed and not technic. Jamal will still be a world class player even if he lost a step because of his vision and technic.

And coaches are not their father. Only concern that coaches have is that the player helps him win games and secure their own job. Like they care when Jamal body is destroyed when they hit 30. By that time, he already coaching another club.

You are old enough when you are good enough. I don't think Arteta is managing his minutes because of his age. Nwaneri is simply not good enough at this moment to play every match. I doubt Arteta is keeping him on the bench when he have showed Jamal kind of talent.

I think this is just flat out false. Coaches definitely have a responsibility to the players long term future as well as their short term success.
Listening to Clive Palmer on Arsenal Vision that is what he suggests is actually happening, that Arteta is managing his minutes as a young player. Players clearly develop at different rates as shown by Lewis-Skelly and I'm assuming you mean Yamal, not Jamal.

Exactly. I was annoyed with Arteta not playing him more against PSG and Bournemouth but the fact is that as much as we all love him, he has looked absolutely knackered for quite some time now. Even in his cameos he has not been showing the burst to beat his man that we saw earlier in the season.

We have to remember that this is the most football at the highest intensity he has ever played in his very young life. One of those 2 variables would be a challenge. Both simultaneously is even more so.

Even early in the season when he first started getting minutes, he looked winded after 30-45 minutes. That's perfectly normal and acceptable for a player his age. I don't think it needs to be some harbinger of doom for his career here.

And he had hamstring injury in January when he missed 5 matches.
He is very young and his minutes must be carefully handled.

But he is good enough to send into the game when the team is already losing? Nwaneri simply isn't as physical robust as Skelly and i'm sure the team is not trying to overwork him while he is still growing into his body and adjusting to the intensity of first team football.

I think he could have been utilised more but ultimately I think people are overdoing it. He's one of the best prospects we've produced in terms of pure ability. I'm far from worried.

The kid isn’t gonna extend is he? He’s completely done here. Last game with us securing 2nd. I would be surprised if he does get any minutes

I suspect this will be unpopular but I'm not surprised he was taken out of the team

He looks like he can be a special player in the future ... but he isn't ready yet

Too slow and weak to be a winger, but also tends to drift out of games in the Ødegaard role

Needs more time

You're right. It is unpopular, but it's also incorrect. If you think he's slow and weak, then you need glasses.

Not sure why he doesn't get any minutes but we keep blind ballhoggers like Martinelli on the pitch every game again. Arteta should start him vs. Southampton, there's nothing to play for.

He needs to improve his strength, but especially his conditioning, that is by far the biggest issue for him.

I noticed he had a tendency to go in and out of games even in the academy, but when he is engaged, he was always a threat. He also needs to work on his off ball positioning, movement and pressing.

He is not the quickest, but he has a pretty explosive burst and it wouldn't be as big of an issue if he had a bit more physicality like Saka. He is still the most technically gifted youth talent I have seen at the club since Jack Wilshere and he showed glimpses of his raw talent at times this season.

He also needs to figure out more clever ways to beat defenders cause they clearly started adapting to his style as the season progressed, I believe he has the guile to make the adjustment.

He was struggling a bit with the fundamentals in general imo, but his unreal quality meant he produced a lot of magic moments.

It’s been a great debut season for him all things considered.

Same as when Yamal came through. Luckily they continue blooding him and never had such terrible backwards thinking like this.

Yamal is a physical freak, an anomaly. MLS is the same. You can clearly see Nwaneri needs to grow into his body a bit more. Let's see how he is after the summer preseason but he is not ready imo. Nothing to do with is actual footballing quality.
