A lot of key players will be absent during pre-season and possibly the start of the season, so Nwaneri can grab it by the scruff of the neck. Similarly how Saliba did it.

Arteta clearly rates him even though it's not that obvious, otherwise he wouldn't be handing him a debut at 15 and involve him in first team at 17 etc. Even this loan was meant to develop him further.

Yeah, it's not like Arteta banished him to Marseille. He probably favored it because De Zerbi was there, but unfortunately, he got sacked right away and his replacement Beye didn't favor Ethan. Should've included a call back option.

The problem is not Madueke, problem is his position. Reminds me of this Ainsley Maitland-Niles. He was good at RB but wanted to play CM/DM. Eventually he "made" it as a RB

Ethan is not strong enough to dictate the game at the 10. Maybe later on his career. However he has shown that he can beat his man and finish on the RW position.

I am worried about Dowman ending up the same like Saka. because he is a world class talent.

I’ve said that several times. I hope he proves us wrong, if he does, I think it will be on loan. I just don’t see him getting game time at Arsenal with Saka, Madueke and Dowman ahead of him. And if we do sign Rogers for LW or Centre, he played RW for England last night, and did it well.

2 - ability to beat a man consistently from wide areas
3 - ability to dictate play from the center

Right now he has none of these

the 10 is stacked. Ødegaard, Kai, Merino, Eze can play there, not to mention Bruno G making the 10 replaced by double 8

That’s the issue. There is no room. Kai, Merino are not better 10s then him. They are just trusted players. Ødegaard is not a better attacker. Arteta won’t do anything innovative in attack, so he is stuck.

Baffled as to why in the last year dowman seems to be more highly rated than Nwaneri. Is it coz he is still in high school? As far as the first team is concerned, he had one impressive home game in pre season and a nice cameo against everton. Not hating on the kid and i hope he does well but am i missing something?

Not sure that answers my question and I don't even think what you're saying is necessarily true. Just off the top off my head, refer to nwaneri at home vs nottingham forest and CL away vs Girona last season. That's before we even get to his debut season the year before

From what I’ve seen, he’s better at reading the game and positioning. I also think he’s better at driving with the ball, but the biggest difference is that he’s a physical monster. He gets past players in a completely different way than Nwaneri. I do think a lot of it has to do with Nwaneri playing out of position.

And I think we should utilize his best attributes, which are creating space for himself and taking a shot, hence, a striker. I could see him being a Kroupi or Kun Agüero type of striker. What he needs to work on, though, is his reading of the game and positioning; he usually disappears from games.

He seems to glide across the pitch but not sure there's any attribute i would regard as elite in the way i think nwaneri's shooting is...as well as his ability to change direction/drop a shoulder to set himself up for the shot.

Anyway keeping an eye on this thread in the last 6 months at least it seems like people are more willing to let nwaneri go and invest more time in Dowman like he is more of a guarantee. If next season Dowman matches Nwaneri's debut season then i'll be impressed. Just saying..

That's like saying if De Bruyne or Salah can't get game time ahead of Oscar or Victor Moses they're never making it at Chelsea. Technically correct but would you want us to be Chelsea in that scenario?
