Ethan Nwaneri: Nwanwhere he play next season?

He doesn't have that smooth, foot on the ball, "pausa" to his game. He should not be a central midfielder.

Why then does that mean he's better as a winger? Cause he's not going to be able to dribble past players in the wings to put in a cross. People are kidding themselves if they think he has the tools to be a great winger.

He is explosive off the mark with the ball and can quickly change direction. Watch his goals for us two seasons ago. Great left foot strike on him too.

I think his future should be as a false 9 type forward. I can absolutely see him in that Gabriel Jesus role.

We should loan him to a club where he can play in that position with a bit of freedom. And if there's no Premier League club that can guarantee him those minutes, then we should send him to a top 8 Championship club for a season.

Just don't send him to France again...

Yeah I compared him to Foden last year and I think that still holds. Park him around the box to wait for chances to smack shots at goal or play delicate chips to the back post and he'll execute, but he struggles to impact anything at all outside of those situations. He's basically a cone OOP and he doesn't yet have the ability to organize the play either in our half during buildup or during sustained possession in the opponent's half that Ødegaard has. All that is totally fine because he's still young and has a great base to work off of but in the present it's absolutely affecting his chances of getting game time with us.

He also reminds me of Mainoo a bit. They're totally different players but their skills both seem hyper refined around small sided training games and exercises. I'm sure if you're playing a 7v7 training match on a half pitch that both Ethan and Mainoo are absolutely demons to play against, but it's not always entirely clear how to translate that into consistently affecting Men's 11v11 matches.

Give him a prem loan. Send him to Bournemouth or somewhere. There is a player there but we are stacked in depth where he wants to play.

How is it embarrassing to question if he has the mentality of an elite player I'm talking elite as in the very best as in most player don't have. Even said he's a good option for us still.

When you look at the difference in how MLS and Ethan responded with respect to the drop in minutes last season - you can see why one is going to make it and the other might be heading out the door.

They both faced the same situation in being on the bench after starting many games during the season before - MLS stuck around and retrained himself as a midfielder and got his just reward with a starting position by the end. Nwaneri by contrast left the club to get minutes elsewhere which turned out to be a disaster.

I really hope he stays at the club but he will need to fight and be patient to get minutes here - I'm just not sure he will have the latter to stay the course.

Nwaneri apparently has been retraining himself to be a striker. Could that suit him more than being a winger or attacking midfielder? Who knows. But certainly playing both him and Havertz in midfield was always a dumb idea.

Its embarassing because we have literally no idea what his mentality is like. We have not seen enough of him to even have an idea. What we know is he had a top breakout season (one of the best of any teenager in PL history) and a rough second season.

This second quote is claiming that going on loan is a sign of a bad mentality - embarrassing stuff. And thats not even taking into account Arteta wanted him to join marseille.

Let's keep him. Saka needs a rest and Noni isn't irreplaceable. He's also done a different but good job in Ode's position. Give him all the cups and let's make sure that we rotate depending on the game state.
