You're going a bit too deep on this. We had some good youngsters, most of whom were bench calibre. The best got ruined by long running injury issues, and the best of the rest wanted to leave rather than stay on the bench. A. Couple were just not good enough at all.

Hindsight has so far shown that, yes, they were bench level players at best, and the ones we got good fees for were right to be sold.

It's only fit ESR or Ski who were good enough to get enough games for us for it to be worth their while staying, and they both asked to leave.

It's all well and good saying we could use Eddie or Flo now, but neither would sign up to be ,4th choice striker.

We got good money for them, they got to play a bit more elsewhere. There's no shame in it for either party.

The thing is, we are really really good now, and with a deep squad, so only the elite youth talents have much of a chance.

You are saying it's criticism of the players Arteta doesn't rate...given Nketiah, Nelson, ESR, Emi all got their first meaningful run of games under Arteta, he clearly did rate them. Usually higher than the fans. And given that having options better than Nelson or Nketiah might well have won us the league in 23\24, it's odd playing the Manger hates the kids card. Even more so when our 4 youngest ever players are all in the squad and debuted by him, and that he platformed Saka, MLS and Ethan earlier than expected.

Also, why are you bringing up Iwobi? He was sold by Raul to find Sold 6 months before Arteta arrived
Because this is a thread about one of those "youngest" players and the topic is why he doesnt get enough minutes.

he's 18, has already had more game time at his age than all the others you mention out together, and we have a new £60m signing and our club captain (and 22\23 & 23\24 played of the year) ahead of him in the pecking order.

he'll still probably end up with 2000+ minutes which is unusually high for his age. This club will give more minutes to teenagers than any other in the division while top in the EPL and CL.

Right now we have too many attackers, but it just doesn't seem like that because we're having a massive injury crisis. I don't it is sustainable to have as many attackers as we have unless we are planning on constantly having an injury crisis. If our injury crisis goes away in the second half of the season, it will be very obvious that we have too many attackers.

Here are our current attackers.

ST: Havertz, Gyokeres, Jesus, Merino*
LW: Trossard, Martinelli, Eze*, Madueke*
RW: Saka, Madueke, Dowman
AM: Ødegaard, Eze, Nwaneri, Merino*

Normally, the goal is to have two options for each position, and we have that in midfield and defense, but in attack we have eight players for three positions (nine players if you count Merino as a CF).

In the summer, I think we could sell two attackers, and that would open up more minutes for Nwaneri.
When do we ever have a healthy team. Expect 6-8 out each match. Ethan should have played more when Ødegaard was out.

Nah.. we didnt bring him on in games crying out for creativity. We didnt risk him against pool but put dowman on. Lets talk reality not fancy stories. Age has nothing to do with it. This is the club that once gave fabregas the keys to the midfiele, that gave ramsey and wilshere and theo a free rein.

Dont spin it. He wasnt trusted and the fidget spinner is the favoured one. Good to see though that he is dropped for wolves

Heaven forbid our captain and played of the year 2 of the last 3 seasons have more credit in the bank.

We can use last examples, but every player is different...Ethan is very different to Cesc or Jack. Also this is a team top of ELL and ECL and with a squad of regular international players. The context is different.

And although Ethan is super talented, he's not Cesc who played like a 25 year old at 17.

Ahh the salah argument - credit in the bank. Cesc came into a team that had won things and had been invincible. This team and manager hasnt won anything in any of the previous full seasons of the manager.
Nwaneri is super ralented and he should have had more opportunities, to grow and to show what he can do. Thats precisely the point being made. Dont know why you are debating it. Its a valid opinion

So because something is a valid opinion it shouldn't be debated on a discussion forum?

I'm not saying you can't hold that opinion, I just disagree on certain key points.

Eze and Ode are both below average, cant understand why he doesnt get any chances, even after having a great performance in the CL. This is really absurd and I think today showed he won't get much playing time. Can only hope Arteta has some master plan

He's the best player in the club at making space and shooting around the edge of the box and Arteta won't bring him on against teams parking the bus

Ludicrous

He 100% should be getting more opportunities, particularly ahead of Ødegaard. Eze has not historically been the fittest player himself so when he and Ødegaard are both inevitably injured at the same time, rather than having a Nwaneri with some minutes under his belt ready to slot in, we'll see that awful midfield of Rice, Zubi and Merino or Havertz 8 at right again.

He needs to learn to be a system player, don't shoot that much, don't always try to thread key passes in and then risk losing the ball. Need to turn players, pass it sideways, slow the game down and be patient.

That way he will get more chances. Currently he is way too individualistic for Arteta's liking

He does all of that tbf. We dont need an Ødegaard clone. He slows it down and passes it side ways but then has more of a killer isntinct than Ødegaard. Its a good thing and you dont want to remove that.

Your comment comes off like all he does is play for himself. In fact he contributes to the teams play much more than Eze

I agree, but Arteta clearly don't
