Mods are unethical! Özil, come assist me please!
Nwaneri should just make it incentive driven contract with base similar to Lewis Sellly and sign on fee. Achieve milestones and earn like Havertz and Saka. It will keep that drive and motivation for him.

Basically, if he succeeds how we believe he will be, his contract upgrades every year.

Unlikely imo.

He’s probably looking for parity with what Garnacho got in 2023 when he was at a similar stage of his development.

That ended up being 65k.

If I'm his agent I'm looking at Nketieh and Nelson, not Garnacho. Also German teams can pay him 65k and actually make him a starter

Garnacho had started a similar amount of minutes and was a similar age when he got his salary.

Nelson signed a deal around 20k when he was a similar age to Ethan and only got the bumper deal in 2023.

I'll be surprised if it's not 100k plus
Nah, he's behind MLS by quite a way imo. Maybe will never reach as high a level, may be amazing but it's too early to say and that wage would be too high

MLS on the other hand I hope got a serious first team wage because he's done enough to deserve it

Not sure what length he is looking at, if I was him I’d look at 3 years max and take £70k now. In 2 years they’ll be looking to a longer contract on a big wage, assuming he reaches expected level. Let’s hope he gets good advice.

No football player (or any athlete) looks for a shorter contract thinking then they get a raise sooner, certainly not when they are in the beginning of their career. These guys are always one tackle away from their career being done. There is a 0% chance that if Arsenal offer him 5 years, he’ll go ”I’d rather have 3”.

If Eze is coming, he’ll get less minutes than last season. Why would he sign then? This is in part why I don’t buy the Eze rumors.

Maybe the club are trying to sign the best players they can and his contract is a separate issue? The club want to renew him, they also want Eze. Arsenal don't exist to appease 18 year old footballers.

What do Arsenal exist to do then? Not to win anything, not to sign the best players, play disgusting football, sign Chelsea rejects, make no big sales, not to appease what are considered 18 year old top talents from the youth system?

Put the best team out on the pitch and try and win trophies? Anyone who would say they'd rather have Nwaneri in the team at his current stage of development over Eze is lying or doesn't know anything about football. If they want to sign Eze they shouldn't be put off because Nwaneri might threaten to leave. The club want to keep the player and sign another player currently better than him, so they shouldn't be blamed because Nwaneri decides he wants to move.

These arguments come up every time a promising youngster breaks through, "X player would block Smith Rowe" etc. If the player is good enough they'll find their way into the team.

That’s fair.

If they offer him 5 yrs on £70k you think he’d take it? My point is, if he can’t get £100k now, he may in 2 years time. As for career ending injuries, that’s a risk for all players, and they don’t all have 5 yr contracts.

Exactly this.

If Ethan is good enough, he'll play. Look at MLS - you absolutely play in this team if you're good enough. It's really that simple.

Younger players usually have 5 years or longer and if not it’s probably because they haven’t been offered a long term contract for some reason. It’s not because they have pushed for short term themselves. Usually the player is always pushing for longer contract because it’s money guaranteed which is very valuable thing in career as fragile as proferssional athlete. He can still get a raise. We upgraded contracts to both Saka and Martinelli before they were expired. Basically pushing for a shorter contract is saying ”less guaranteed money, please”.

Arsenal Quotes

Ian Wright was the incredible striker for whom those around him sometimes found hard to control especially the opponents. He was an extrovert, hyperactive, and had endured an extremely hard life. His playing style was instinctive, and he had that killer instinct, a player like no other.
