Not that Mkhi would have started, but to miss him leave us short of options on the bench.

Dreadful decision to play the final in Baku.

Uefa should inform Chelsea to leave Hazard at home would make it fairly even shameless decision to leave MKHI at home.

One big factor to consider here is the possibility that the game might go to penalties. I would rather have Özil do goalkeeping for penalties than Cech. Starting Cech may then force us to use a substitution in the end.

We got rid of Wenger so our new manager can make decisions like these. Wenger would have started Cech no matter what, we'll see if Emery is as ruthless as it was promised when he became our manager.

He was the Premier League Goalkeeper of the Season and Golden Glove winner in his first season at Arsenal, despite the crappy defense in front of him.

He had the most clean sheets of any Premier League goalkeeper in his first Arsenal season.

He was pretty good in his second season as well.

This is spin. Or you’re just completely bullshitting.

There was no crappy defence. We still had Kosh and Merte for most of the season with prime Monreal at left back. It was also Bellerin first full season after his breakthrough the previous year. That season, overall Goals against was not any better than the previous 2/ 3 seasons.

He was also not that good in his second season. Cech was in goal for our worst Goals Against verses the previous 4 seasons. Before he joined, Ospina and Szcez jointly managed the same amount of clean sheets as Cech did in his second season. In fact, Ospina managed most of them, contributing 8 in 18 games - one of the best percentage rate in the league 2015.

In reality, he wasn’t much of an upgrade at all.

Fair to say the build-up to this is a joke - fans can't get there, one of our players doesn't feel safe enough to go, and our goalie has been announced as the new sporting director of the f*cking opposition.

Anyway Leno should be playing in this regardless of the Cech news. It's our biggest game in years, Leno is our first choice goalie, you simply don't deserve to win these types of games if you're not prepared to do everything to win them. It's not a Cech testimonial.

Hmm *cough* Trax's Real Camper van (yellow) already looks cheaper than the promotional blue one.... Wonder if it's going to be some kind of visa scam in the end tour operators love those.

Better get it cleaned then

A back four of Bellerin, Per, Kos and Monreal at their best is a crappy defence?

Alright, it's time to reveal yourself behind this account, Cech.

Im still fuming about the Mkhi situation, absolute disgrace a country like Azerbaijan was given a major final.

I’ve noticed that Azeri shill on here has disappeared since all this stuff has come out. Disgrace.

Also, if the commentators on tv say “despite all the controversy they’ve put on a great show” I’m putting my foot through it. Bread and circuses.

Y'all either have very selective memories or your standards have been lowered significantly by the mess the defense has been the past two seasons. What I remember is that Gabriel played almost as much as Mertesacker that season and was the target of constant abuse by people who wondered just why the hell Arsenal bought him and why he couldn't learn to speak English. Mertesacker, of course, didn't fare much better because when he played he was criticized for being too slow and past it. Bellerin was known far more for his attacking abilities than his defense. And let us not forget how much Arsenal desperately needed someone in the mold of Vieira in front of them instead of Flamini, Coquelin and then Elneny.

Cech was 4th in total saves that season (after years of being toward the bottom of that category with Chelsea, which had a defense that didn't allow so many shots on goal), led the league in save percentage and in saves per goal conceded. (3.2 in comparison to Szczesny's 2.0 the previous season).

I realize that there are some Arsenal fans who have never been able to accept Petr Cech because he played for Chelsea for so long, but nobody else could possibly think that Cech wasn't an upgrade over the goalkeepers Arsenal had been running out there for years. Y'all are letting your own biases cloud reality.

I really hope Özil put the playstation away and concentrated more on football in the last weeks. Anyway I'm hyped for the match.
