What the hell are you smoking at Villa Park ?
He would be our WORST & by a looong way !!!

I suspect Mikel Arteta and @Stevo the Villan knows way more about the player than yourself. If we're signing him, it's because he's the best right sided CB we can regularly use in the 16/17 season.

He's widely considered Villa's most consistant performing defender

Might be a tough one for AM to take, but if Saliba is out for 5 months, we definitely need a proper PL ready CB like Konsa to come in.

You can’t have Mosquera as your only RCB for almost half a season. That’s something that can lose you a title.

Begrudgingly now I am for this transfer.
Timber is a RCB and always has been? In fact I think he’s played more RCB than RB in his career?

The forum is going to huff and puff all summer at these unexciting, PL experienced signings, but honestly they might be what get us over the line to a second title. It won't be pretty, but these are the sort of players Arteta loves.

Personally I'd like more adventure if this is a right back signing but he's serviceable enough as a back up CB. I actually get that we need someone in - as it stands there's a high chance that all of Saliba, Timber and White miss significant parts of the start of the season - our defensive right side is bare bones. You just fear for our attack with Mosquera/Konsa holding that side down for any length of time

Plenty of center backs that could do a job and with more upside for less money.

We should be signing a right back and not another cb that can also cover for rb if need be.

Lastly, and I can't stress this enough, maybe if the club showed the same intent for forwards as it does for signing defenders, people would be more receptive to this.

Mikel Arteta tried to pay close to 100m for Mudryk and he paid over 50 for Madueke last season. His appraisal of players is certainly not beyond reproach, even if he does tend to get defenders right most of the time.

Arteta's sucessrate with defenders is truly elite though

Mudryk moved for 70m Euros, so no we didn't go upto £60m because Chelsea outbid us. He flopped but he looked elite against the likes of Real Madrid IIRC

Madueke, is costing us £9.7m per season in terms of transfer fee. So calling it over 50m, might be technically true, but the terms of the deal are unreal for our cashflow and increases the amount we can spend last window and this window while still signing the player.

It's also worth noting we will be making way more money season on season so the fee is less of a percent of revenue year on year, from year 2 to year 5

Mukiele for half the price. PL experience, 28, off the back of a fantastic season with Sunderland. Can play RB/CB.
This is a great shout. He was genuinely very very good last season, has top club pedigree and wouldn’t look like a CB playing RB. He’s actually a threat in forward areas but is still big, fast and physical.

Honestly I’m now wondering why we aren’t looking at him. Do we really place that much important on these guys being good friends with our English lads

Am I missing something? Surely if we sign Konsa he'll be playing RCB till Xmas at least.

Arsenal Quotes

It was a unique moment, a football fairytale. Was there anyone left who still believed I could give that kind of performance? Probably only Arsène Wenger.
