Once Timber and Saliba return he won’t play. He is an experienced international centre half in his absolute prime years and he will cover right back mainly. Given he now starts for England I am surprised he is willing to ride our bench is all, cos that is where he will be.

Even when Timber and Saliba return, there’s no guarantee that they’ll start most games as it seems like it’ll be a reoccurring issue particularly with Timber tbh, so Arteta will be forced to hand him minutes.

At the end of the day a footballing career is quite short and given his age, he’d want to win all the honours he can whilst he has the chance. At Villa I feel that’s probably the best it can get in terms of winning a Europa League trophy whereas Arsenal have a great window to retain the PL and possibly win another trophy in addition to it this season. Sure, every player wants to play but at the same time all do not get to have a PL trophy on their resume. I remember Steven Gerrard in an interview a year or so ago that it’s still a regret in his career that he managed to do so.

I'm certain that 22 years old Mosquera and especially 16 years old Salmon are afraid of 28 years old Konsa.

16 year old CB's don't play significant minutes ( if any) for top clubs no matter how talented they are.

Depth is a good thing, as long as it doesn’t hold back Mosquera and Salmon. Ok they are both young so cup games are fine for them. The fact that Konsa can play RB is definitely a bonus and justifies his signing.

Pep signed like 5 players for £40-50m 10 years ago in one season when the market wasn't anywhere close to this level, on much higher wages relative to the rest of the league as well.

16 I think. I remember he put on a masterclass in a CL match that apparently his parents had to sign the equivalent of a permission slip for. Now their situation was bit different because they were broke and were almost forced into it but yes, it's not unheard of in modern football for a super talent at CB to get real minutes at the highest level.

Is it enough to win Cups? Fa Cup, League Cup, CL? Ultimately, we lack quality in attack, and have done for many years. We heard it after Newcastle, we heard it after Bayern, we heard it after City, we heard it after PSG twice.

The cups aren't as important a priority as retaining the league title for the first time in almost 100 years.

We also reached two of those cup finals whilst lacking in attacking for many years. We can do it again and this time Pep's City won't be there to stop us.

We are an injury away from playing midfielders in defence so I’d argue it is still a priority signing. Will be very disappointing not to sign an attacker but at least we are still stacked in midfield and defence going into the season.
