And since Boyata isn't eligible for the English national team, the 'homegrown' rule is yet again shown as the farce that it is.

It seems to be working, city and psg have had quite windows. Also have seen a desire for clubs to built new stadiums. With even a.Madrid real Madrid and barca pushing for it. We have an advantage but the others will catch up city Liverpool and Chelsea are only looking to expand their ground now so it won't cost as much. I think the club should stay ahead and expand emirates. Our stadium is an advantage and we need to keep it that way.

PSG bought David Luiz for £50m, hardly quiet...

Also, we aren't big enough to warrant a bigger stadium. There are a handful of teams with bigger stadia and they are all more successful than us (Barca. Real, Bayern, United). We just got out from under suffocating spending restrictions and you want us to go back to that? You really must be a glutton for punishment.

Building the stadium secured our financial future for a good while. An expansion is unnecessary.

The logistics of stadium expansion are uncertain anyway because of challenges in gaining local planning permission in terms of infrastructure to support capacity attendance (transportation, security, etc.), at least from the point of view of Islington Council, rightly or wrongly.

UEFA confirms Liverpool FFP probe

Liverpool are one of seven clubs under investigation by UEFA for potential breaches of financial fair play (FFP) regulations, European football's governing body announced on Thursday.

The Merseyside club were absent from European competition last year and only recently submitted detailed accounts to the governing body, which dictates that losses must be restricted to £35.4million over a two-year window.

Liverpool reported losses of £49.8million for the 2012-13 season, and £40.5million for the 10-month period before that, and join Monaco, Roma, Besiktas, Inter Milan, Krasnodar and Sporting Lisbon in being subjected to investigations relating to " potential break-even breaches".

FECK.

Sucks for you, especially when you see the Sheikh buddies helping each other out by buying players like Luiz for £50m, but then, it was always set up in a way that was easily abusable, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

That's not suprising to be honest. They went into huge dept trying to purchase players to get into the CL two seasons ago which flopped, then luckily paid off last season. If Liverpool **** up this season they have to be charged with something.

Me and the Jury would cream ourselves lurking on RAWK if it happened.

Get in, I hope your **** club gets relegated for punishment or something. No offence.

If they don't finish top 4 this season they will be in some very deep merde. Even if they do it will still be tough to get back into compliance with FFP. Naming rights for Anfield may be inevitable.

Ffp is a joke. Investigating Liverpool who although breached them done so pale in comparison to city and psg with fines and squad limitations as punishment. Fine the mega rich and limit the squad of a team filled with two quality players per position like that will affect them how many teams use every registered player not many.

Throw them out is the real punishment but uefa are frightened sponsors will pull out.

There are two separate components in your comment:

(a) Not sure what you are saying precisely regarding investigation of Liverpool. They may be a different case to PSG and Man City but that does not deserve sympathy because Liverpool have still breached FFP while many other clubs have made sure they have complied with it, including ourselves.

(b) Fines vs. competition exclusions / points deductions - this has been discussed already quite a few times on this thread so won't go into any detail except for to say from what I've seen everyone agrees that fines for breaches of FFP are a farce.

It's all somewhat connected. Fining Liverpool will be more effective than fining clubs with unlimited funds but it is the worst type of punishment which we agree on. I wasnt being sympathetic to Liverpool their overspending screwed us it is just the disparity in their crimes. It's like one guy getting caught with a ten bag of grass and another getting caught with 10 ounces of grass. If city received the maximum punishment available now then Liverpool, if found guilty, will receive a lesser penalty. In reality Liverpool for their minor breach should receive city's punishment and city should receive a ban from European football for one season.

Uefa have created moral hazard overspending by 100m is a slap on the wrists instead the slap on the wrists should be for Liverpool

At least wait for the investigation to be completed and the punishment (if any) given out before commenting how unfair it is. Right now Liverpool have not even been found guilty yet why is the fact that they are being investigated so offensive to you?

A group of Paris Saint-Germain supporters is challenging UEFA's financial regulations in a French court.

The fans are suing the French football federation and the league "to denounce the multiple infringements of European Union law caused by the UEFA break-even requirement."

According to their lawyer, the supporters have asked the Paris court to declare UEFA's financial fair play rule "null and void."

Lawyer Emmanuel Daoud argued in a statement that the rule goes against the fundamental principles of competition law within the European Union. The fans have launched a similar action with the European Commission, and a court in Brussels.

PSG were among the first clubs sanctioned by UEFA for overspending on player transfers and wages last May.

Ahh well, unless we unearth a local Messi and keep the ****er for 20 years we'll be winning a title every 10 years.

City and Chelsea will be spending £200m a year along with Yanited.

In one way limitless spending will be interesting, I still believe Chelsea, City and PSG have built their houses on the sand. One disagreement with Putin and Chelsea become Leeds overnight.

The amount of debt they'll accrue will be unsustainable at some point. We have sound finances and generate our own profits, we've built our house upon the rock, when the tide comes in and it will one day we won't be washed away.
