This is some higher level of pain we have to go through.

One of the best academies in the country but the prospects leave for free

He has one year left on his contract so we will probably get a fee for him. Something similar to Amaechi I imagine.

That’s fair enough but like I said, these teenagers are becoming more ambitious now. It’s not enough to wait around until they’re 20/21 to start playing regularly, they want to be playing at 18. Unfortunately for us he’s got two players ahead of him who are around the same age and have proven themselves to make the step up from youth football to senior football so he’d have to fight his way to the top of the pecking order.

Its suddenly becoming more and more obvious, that agents are pushing they’re talents to put pressure on clubs. While i hate the idea of that, i just can help but be gutted over particular this guy leaving....

We rejected a £5m bid in January from Brentford who love to shop here the bastards. He’s a much better talent than Thompson.

Brentford would be a good move for us. More likely to accept a buy back clause perhaps, we get to see him progress locally, good footballing side.

My worry is he's had his head turned by a move abroad though, like many youngsters playing in English academies.

Speaking of Brentford, how is Ollie Watkins rated. Is tenable to make a step up do folk think?

We can't compare Balogun to Gnabry he yet to play top level football but we shouldn't make mistakes like our others youngsters we have to put buyback clause in case balogun turn quality

I don't really get the hysteria, he may well be a good player, but he won't get a kick at Arsenal. We are likely to be signing a U25 centre forward when Auba/Laca go, and we already have Eddie and Martinelli who are now established in the first team. Balogun probably realises this as well.

People don't understand the concept of squad planning, would you rather have three U21 forwards, or two U21 forwards and say, a proper central midfielder.

Sell and put the money towards positions where the first team needs strengthening.

Sort it out Arsenal! We cant afford to loose these kind of talents this early and this cheap!!!

Imagine if he was playing for any other team with one year to go on his contract and Arsenal wanted to buy, he would cost 15-20m at least but thats Arsenals thing, loose them for peanuts and buy expensive!

Has there been many other examples of players yet to make a single senior appearance whatsoever going for £15M-£20M like?

Yes! Benfica sold Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo for 15M€ each without a single game in the first team. And sold Andre Gomes, Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro for 15M€ each with very little playing time in the first team.

It's a good business model to have in your academy. If you can't fit them on the first team, you sell them. And when you can fit them on the first team you can sell them for 125 M€ like João Felix!

Yeah mate, but both Silva & Cancelo played mens football for Benfica B then went on loan for a year to Monaco & Valencia before signing permanently, so not good examples.

You have to hope we can agree at least a good sell on and hopefully he holds no ill will and would accept a buy back clause

Seems odd for this to come out now & not later in the summer. Who knows if Auba & Lacazette still here in a couple of months. Sure a club would snap him up late window if we want to sell.

Balogun even posting first feam training pics constantly, similar as of today.

Weird situation imo, he's already in touching distance to get a shot.

This guy was putting up similar numbers to Greenwood at youth level for people who don’t know. This is so disappointing, especially with Aubameyang and Lacazette both leaving. Martinelli, Nketiah, John-Jules and Balogun would have been great to have.

Best have first refusal and clauses.

Also for people who don't know, he is currently putting up similar or poorer numbers at youth level as Sanchez Watt, Chuks Aneke, Chuba Akpom, Stephy Mavididi, Will Keane, Federico Macheda, James Wilson, Fabio Borini, Patrick Bamford, Islam Feruz, Dominik Solanke, Cristian Ceballos, Jack Dunn...(this list could go on to crash the site!)

Now I'm not saying Balogun can't become a good player but impressive youth stats don't have particularly good 'positive predictive value' when it comes to predicting the player's potential at PL level. Lower leagues all over the world are filled with former youth level super stars. Going by stats alone, the history shows that statistically "the next JET" is far more likely than "the next Gnabry"
