Yes, but if its the title we're going for then its City that we're competing against, the rest of the league doesnt matter. We have the advantage of not being involved in energy sapping CL ties, but I feel our squad is still too thin to mount a serious title challenge.

Because I don’t think we were in a title challenge to begin with. The team is once again performing ahead of where it’s meant to be in my view.

The encouraging news is that there is talk of the owners wanting to seize the moment, so that may translate into some necessary signings in January.

Laca with 9 goals and 3 assists, Messi 7 goals and 10 assists and Neymar with 11 goals and 9 assists.

Every time I've looked at Lyon this season Laca was more in the box, so it makes sense that his output is better since he's doing what he's good at. He also could have scored more given the chances he's had in some games.

Laca scored some outrageous finishes for us, he was a touch inconsistent but his finishing wasn't the part of his game that was lacking.

Oh well

Wasn't anywhere near the required level for Brazil NT but you could tell being there means a lot to him

Injury aside we'll get a sad Jesus for a bit

I would hate to be your girlfriend for SO MANY REASONS. But one of the biggest would have to be your incessant pining over your exes and equally consistently moaning “why can’t you just finish!” every night.

Dunno how @Lady_Gooner puts up with you tbh.

Didn't realise @Trilly and @Lady_Gooner were in a Bad Romance

If he's staying back to support the team in Qatar, it means the injury is not as serious as people are making it out to be.

Every forward from a none PL league in Europe is a gamble. Just look at Werner, Pepe, Lacazette and Sancho looking like world beaters in their respective leagues.
Gamble vs what we already know. Nketiah is not good enough. Every signing is basically a gamble so why even sign anyone with that logic? We have 2 striker at the whole club. It’s nowhere near enough for a long season where you enter 4 competition. Look at who replaced nketiah in the friendly vs watfor and that’s the 3rd striker. It’s beyond joke people in here trying to justify gambling on 2 strikers rest of this seas when we already gambled last season and paid for it. Go back 12 month ago in December when it became clear auba was done. The same stupid talk about there is no one out there. If we don’t sign a striker I hope we miss out on CL again

You don't know Nketieh isn't good enough because you haven't seen enough of him. His goals per minute is good but he hasn't got many minutes. Nketieh looked very much improved in pre-season too but physically and his overall game. There is potential for Nketieh to blow up imo. As it is if you give him 3-4 shots per game while playing him 90 minutes he'd be a 1 goal in 2 games striker right now for my money.

Also we could also play ESR-Martinelli-Saka as a front 3 without Nketieh, which is also a good forward line, also Nelson-Martinelli-Saka is possible. So plenty of permutations.

Also if we sign a forward it needs to be a forward who can play with Jesus long term and probably vacate the central role for him. Joao Felix maybe ideal, Nkunku would make sense if he wasn't going to Chelsea.

Did Guardiola even play a striker last season though? Arteta doesn't even want his striker to be in the box, he wants his striker to drop deep to build up play.

We are not City nor do we have their quality in midfield. If Jesus miss 10 games rest of the season we won’t even make top 4. And again we will fully deserve it

Who do you suggest and what do you suggest we do with said striker when Jesus comes back? The market is terrible for strikers right now.

We can get Mudryk and play Martinelli as number 9 in Jesus role.

Then ESR/Mudryk can share the worload on the left side given that one would be new and the other one would be coming back from injury.

Martinelli can’t play there and is not comfortable. And he will get injured quickly in that position

Y'all are sleeping on Eddie. He's become public enemy number 1 all of a sudden but if he can recapture the form he had at the end of last season and even at times at the beginning of this season we'll have enough to win the first couple of games we've got coming up after the break. All of a sudden people are acting like we've got Chamakh.

Chamakh was better than nketiah. He is poor. Only reason he is rated here is because he is from the academy.

Yeah he had a brief purple patch so we gave him 100k a week and since then he’s reverted to type. He’s clearly not good enough imo and now we’re going to find that out.

His fans here would say that brief period is his true level and not what he shown 90% of his time. All he did was make runs and we were amazed because lacazette was not running. Even his goals were scruffy and bit fluky
