Yeah no ****. Obviously you'd want a better finisher. I didn't go back to OPs posts but that's not what they or I are saying. Everyone's looking for a better finisher. That's not the point though. Your original point was about false nines. You can be a false nine who's a decent finisher. It's not binary. We'd want to move on from Jesus and Kai or Liverpool with Nunez not because they are false nine ish but because they are poor finishers.
Gotcha!

I see the misunderstanding, false 9s in general vs examples of false 9s who are poor finishers. My original post did focus on the latter though not the former so the misunderstanding lies with the other guy 😆

Saw a similar thing being discussed on a video during the past week as to why our other attackers (Saka, Gyokeres and co) need to improve and one or two have to step forward rather than it being all steady…

The question that was posed - has a team ever won the league without their attackers being in POTY discussions? In the PL era, I can’t recall that being the case as there’s always been a player that exploded even in recent years and turned Super Saiyan (Salah, Aguero, Haaland, Vardy, Costa/Hazard…) I know it’s still early but I think the club had the right idea when they opted for a CF it just hasn’t worked out as of yet. Still, if people are so keen on a false 9 ala Firmino then we need a talisman to step up from either flank.

Honestly, I didn’t even take any notice of the below but I was quite surprised to see how this is shaping:

Interesting.
Yes, it is a big worry now that Foden is scoring.
Yep, I said the title would be ours as long as somebody else besides Haaland doesn’t step up for City. That person has been Rodri, KDB or Foden in recent years.

If Foden continues then it’s gonna be a much closer race than we thought earlier on in the season. I’m gonna be pissed off if our subpar attack ends up costing us…again.

This is partially why I wanted us to risk being short in other areas and just dump a load of money on Isak, or someone else who solves the problem once and for all and gives us that 1-2 punch with Saka. I don’t think you can win the league without a 1-2 punch.

The back line is their issue.

Yes they’ve finally kept a clean sheet against Sunderland but there’s not one defender they have I’d take over our top 6 defenders.

Not like three years ago when they’d clamp teams defensively. Donnarumma downgrade on Ederson as well imo.

I’m happy it all worked out for us today, but him completely missing the header is soooo on brand.
In his 2 appearances he missed the header, he hit the bar and had a tame shot on another shot. 9/10 he lacks that last action

The only team that comes to mind is Chelsea 04-06. That was back when Henry and Van Nistelrooy were doing 20+ goals a season and Drogba barely got 10. That team was quite similar to ours at least before Gabriel and Saliba got injured in terms of how it would grind out results backed up by a defense that didn’t concede goals.

Lovely read
This was really, really good. I resonated with several parts of it, two in particular.
  1. My daughter is four, and when I had surgery on my wrist this spring, she'd throw on a sling and mimic me. "Oh, I hurt so bad, daddy." Cracked me up.
  2. When my wife was delivering our firstborn, my son, we also had some major complications. We are native English speakers, so I cannot pretend to understand the disconnect he had in that regard, but it was an entirely traumatic and terrifying situation to be in.

Donnarumma a downgrade? Surely you must be taking the piss

This is really nice message from Gabi. I don't think we gonna give him new contract unless he delivers and prove his fitness level improved.

But love the mentality I hope he give us help this season
