Not really sure about Kroupi or Thiago as a replacement for Jesus. Kroupi seems like a shooter and the latter is pretty scrappy but Jesus at his best in 22/23 thrived in our system as he was more of an all rounder.

Would drop between the lines, link up play, great at pressing and dribbling as well as creating chaos. I just looked at Igamane stats on Fbref and it links up with what I’ve seen of him thus far as a like for like replacement. It’ll be interesting to see how he does from now until the end of the season though as if he carries on his strong start at Lille then I think a host of clubs will be at him in the summer.

Inzaghi comps won't be impressive too. The thing that stood out to me is how good he is at finding space and how calm he is in front of goal. Hardly misses anything.

Kroupi ceiling looks more interesting to me. Guy scores from everywhere and has an insane shot in him. Reminds me of Recoba
Kroupi will be +50 million. It’s kinda funny no one talks about how dodgy his transfer was. Orient rejected a bid over 30 million pound from West Ham to sell him to Bournemouth for 12 million as they have same owners

Non of that really matters cause he can’t shoot and is a poor finisher. He’s a pretty player for sure in his prime. But he was the ultimate disappointment for club and country and went on long stretches without scoring

The first half of 22/23 he was fantastic, even I can’t deny him of that though I agree on your points that his finishing isn’t great. I think in Arteta’s system you have do a lot more than hence why some players have been getting found out. Players who aren’t technically sound and able to link play or good in the air/able to compete physically get really found out with the way we play.

That’s why I’m a bit surprised about some of the names that are being suggested lol

Is that the part where he went on 13 games without scoring before getting injury? He had great pre season and looked good about 5 games before we saw him miss chance after chance then got injured. He ended his first season with 4 league goals. 2 of them home again Leicester early on

No it wasn’t 😂

Let’s get the facts right lol in the first half of 22/23 before the World Cup he had 11 G/A in 16 apps in the PL then his knee blew out and that was him done. Even though he’s never been prolific, his general play and dribbling was levels above what we’ve been getting since his injury which is understandable given the extent of his injuries.

Even looking at the stats, the likes of Ødegaard and Martinelli were cooking in the first half of 22/23 with him up top too. Arteta’s system is made for that type of link man/profile who drifts deep to receive.

The comp doesn't look that impressive?
The people who rate him seem to align with what @Clrnc said re: finding space in the box and being composed in front of goal.

He’s composed in front of goal I will give him that but yeah I’m also not sure how his game would translate to having less space than he does in this comp.

Around 20th of October in his first season the tone in this thread changes and realisation of his poor finishing hits home. From that until he gets injured its constantly about his finishing

He’s obviously a good footballer. But the guy in his prime couldn’t finish. Now with all the injuries he’s physically done at this level. He may give us a moment here and there end of the season. If he give us 2 great decisive actions now until end of the season we should be grateful and wish him well in the summer

I wouldn’t say it was a massive surprise tbh the writing was on the wall when he was in a stacked City side in 19/20 and they scored 102 goals in the PL and he couldn’t even get more than 15+ despite all the rest of their players feasting. Raheem Sterling managed to get 20 goals in the league that year and Aguero who was injured for large parts of the campaign got 16.

I still think his sort of profile suits us best imo, not saying him per se but his best stretch of form at the club in 22/23. If he can manage to get a player with similar traits then it would be perfect for the style that Arteta is implementing here.

Wonder if Kai having a false dawn once he's fit enough will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

He’s nowhere near PL level anymore. You can see his mind wanting to do things that his body can’t pull off anymore. Coming back from several knee injuries and ACL is heroes work but that was an awful sub today, especially that early.

Done at top level. Him coming on for Gyökeres just made us worse in all aspects.

The right move would've been either Havertz or Merino up front tonight. Jesus needs to get binned.
