You guys wouldn't be this annoyed if you had faith in Eze, Madueke and Gyokeres. If this was Saliba, the reaction wouldn't have been as strong. What you are really worried about is losing a talisman.

I do have faith in those guys, as do many. You're inventing stuff. Gabriel is just defensively amazing but he's a huge driver of our set piece prowess ofc ppl are going to be annoyed.

Defensively we're going to be fine, we need to get back our attack quick smart though

Nope. If Saliba was out, would you have felt comfortable knowing we have Mosquera? Yep, I think most would. They are worried about losing Gabi because we've lost a talisman, a leader, a goalscoring threat, whether he's scoring or just causing havoc from set pieces.

If it was just about replacing Gabriels defensive ability, people wouldn't be this wound up as we have Mosquera and Hincapie.

People are also wound up bcz we've already suffered a lot of injuries, we looked to be finally getting a lot of players back and then boom, Gabby gets injured in a meaningless friendly which increases our annoyance even more

It’s a problem whenever any of our first 11 gets injured, not sure what you’re going on about. We’ve got the cover, but it’s still a huge loss.

Pre season people were talking about how we have insane depth with 2 players per position, certainly in defence. Its time to back it.

Yes the game has slightly changed where teams are scoring goals from corners and long throws so Gabriel is important there as much as he is in defence. We have had a lot of success scoring that way. What’s the problem in Gabriel being injured being a massive blow? It doesn’t prove Eze was a bad signing or whatever adjacent point you’re alluding to here.

And by the way, Gabriel is not only a miss due to his goals and attacking threat. He is our best defender, he is a leader back there being the most vocal, etc. He’s been more influential than Saliba defensively for over a year now.

There are certain players who no matter what the depth is, they’re gonna be a miss.

The depth is also there to help you rotate without a drop off in 1 or 2 games such as weaker CL opposition, cup games, or home PL games to lower teams.

It doesn’t mean that you lose what must be your best player that season + top 5 CBs in the world and you shrug your shoulders.

So essentially you’re tryna prove some sort of agenda through this through completely misrepresenting what depth is for. If you have strong depth then lose your best player for 2 months then you will probably drop points due to it along the way. But it will be less so than if you had poor depth.

Like always knew Gabby was the best from set pieces in the club and league but when I think about it, we're so reliant on him for them I think we'd barely score any without him.

We have already backed it up. All season we had numerous injuries and still managed to stay top of the league. The problem is, something which is obvious to see if you weren't preoccupied trying to get your agenda in, it is not one or two injuries, it is loads of injuries at the same time.

As it stands now we have 8 players injured or at least a doubt for our next fixture. The reason why people are particularly worried about Gabriel (forgetting for a moment he is a great defender) he is just the latest player to get injured. Add Calafiori and we have potentially two defenders out to go with White who so far hasn't been reliable at all fitness wise, and this during the extremely busy Christmas period. Knowing us it is easy to imagine Gabriel being out for a month, then Cala and White picking up knocks, which means we have to play the likes of Timber non stop and be caught in a vicious cycle.

And don't forget all the injured attackers still haven't come back, apart from Gyok and Nelli the others havent played for months so will be a while before they can even be match fit.

Exactly. Not being annoyed about this means you’re either a troll or tryna prove an agenda, which is just sad imo. This is frustrating considering how our season has gone with injuries (and last season).

Let’s zoom out here. If Liverpool lost VVD for 2 months early last season it could have been different. If they also had the disruption our attack has had this season such as Salah, Macallister, TAA being out then they would have not created that distance and potentially have not won the league.

Injuries to your best players change results. It’s just less of a nightmare if you have good back up players. But there’s a reason those players are squad players and not £100-150m players (the level of spend we would need to make to replace a Gabriel or a Saka). They’re good to very good players, not world class ones. Over 2 months you lose points due to it; and it makes the 6 pointers harder as you need the quality.

Yep, because they are difference makers. We spent 300m and arguably the only real upgrade to the starting 11 was Zubimendi, is it fair to say that? For a few years now, we've all been saying we lack another top class player in attack.

That point is way too far removed from this topic of losing Gabriel being a major blow.

And if we didn’t have depth in attack we’d be screwed right now.

If we didn’t spend extra money on Hincapie and Gabriel ends up injured for 2 months we’d be screwed right now.

never understand why gabriel did not pulled out in this friendly match when he already has issue before that friendly match even training alone
If he did that, he'd be at risk of not being picked. I think he did that with a previous manager and was benched/out of the squad

Arsenal Quotes

I'm prepared to be committed to the club at least until we go into the new stadium. For me, it’s important that the club goes in there and that I make sure the team are at a very good level. After that, whether it’s me or someone else, the club will be able to compete at the highest level. But for me to run away now would not be fair.
