Gabriel Martinelli: Dog Days Are Over?

it's not just about who we sign, there are players in the squad with the potential to go to the next level. Martinelli, Timber, Vieira, Calafiori, players in that 22-25 year bracket who need big CL performances.

Martinelli is a direct footballer, he has a dangerous cross on him, he's not just a Walcott like everyone thinks. We need his profile in the 11, our playmakers thrive on a player like this. Cannot put an Eze or X.Simons type at LW, it will clog up the middle of the pitch and teams will squeeze us up high.

I really think if we don't sign a LW, that Nelson and Martinelli can compete for that spot and Trossard can play CF. His lack of pace makes us a bit predictable out wide.

You guys are nuts and never learn. A terrible goal in pre season against a kid and people are gassed. That touch that took him in field was terrible. The defending was worse

I wonder why he got so little playing time yesterday, felt a little weird.

Hope he isn't carrying a slight injury, hope he starts on Sunday.

Maybe

You're wrong, no?
Left forward will be the position that's going to cost us this year. Such an important position and we didn't even try to get a better player there, while at the same time, we are stacking LBs and CBs after already having the best defense

Actually having the best defense in the league (already) and adding Calafiori, allows us to take a risk on the LW position.

You're being dramatic We got 25 goals from the position last season.

Him over hitting easy pass to rice to clear him. And when Ødegaard played him through Havertz was completely clear in the middle and he didn’t see him. He did one good pass to Ødegaard. Everything else he failed at. Ultimately we didn’t with a guy that fbck up the basics most times now

He did see him, the pass got blocked by a Lyon defender.

Don't forget this is not an Arteta signing. From the players he inherited only Saka and Saliba are playing. The rest got cleared. Martinelli is slowly starting to lose his place and its only on him and no one else. He is not up to the standard for a second year.

He looked more dangerous than Saka tbh but his execution is a complete flip of a coin.

Luis Diaz scored a goal today against Sevilla where he faced up the defender, created space with a quick body movement then blasted it in. Feels like Nelli has no real clear picture of what he wants to do and ends up confusing himself.

Still the only attacker we have with game changing pace, made some great runs in the first half that I don’t see anyone else doing and we need more of it
