Who scored rating? This is such an L. I’d say this about any player by the way, you just can’t be using who scored ratings.

I didn’t even realise he had to clap back against anyone though? I thought the fanbase rates him.

His Instagram comments post match these days are a bit mixed, I’m sure he sees it lol then you have people shredding him on Twitter.

Just sitting back and observing at the moment but I don’t think this is sustainable. He’s going to have to settle for a bit part role if he’s going to stay here imo.

For all his shortcomings, Martinelli is the only player we have capable of running in behind a defense

Who's going to give him through balls, though?

This is not how we play, Arteta clearly prefers a more risk averse way of playing. @Macho is right, this is Auba all over again.

The effort is clearly there, it's just a very simple question of him being out of form and the tactics not suiting him feeding off each other.

Put Xhaka in this team again and I reckon he sparks back to life. Hell, have Ødegaard start at left 8 and I reckon Gabi does well.

Just adding to what a wrote above, when Martinelli was on it, it was Xhaka and Jesus always moving with/around him. Granit would even overlap him a lot and Jesus would drop a bit to the edge of the box.

He needs smarter players around him.

I like him. Thought he had "it" for a long time, but if we have moved on as a team from what made him tick, it's time to find the left sided Saka and call it a day.

Once Merino is back, we'll see how Gabi fares, but I don't find Merino has that kind of smart movement.

Sadly, Nelli isn't what he was mentally when Xhaka was here.

Nelli is getting Ramsdale'd. Arteta has a vision of what he wants. Nelli isn't part of it.

The peculiar thing is Arteta bent over backwards to fix what he thought was ailing his goalkeeping situation. He does the same for LB, CB, and DMs. He just hasn't found the solution up front for whatever reason.

Maybe Rodrygo since he is dying to get back on the left side again.

Rodrygo doesn’t have anywhere near the defensive skills Martinelli has

Yeah, my knee jerk reaction is that Arteta has firmly moved on from him and that's his mind made up.

Probably why Leo looked a bit miffed the other day, since he should've been starting on merit for that particular occasion.

Though I think today was a question of rotation (or at least I'm coping it is), it really might just be the case that, even though Trossard adds goals, he lacks the pace to track back and help in defense and that is priority n.1 for our team right now.

There were so many wide options of quality again Mik has yet to show after 5 years he knows how to build a balanced side.

It pains me to say he isn’t good enough Martinelli, love the kid’s motor and he is a great servant to the club. Mik needs to clear out Viera, Partey, Martinelli, Jesus, Zinny, Tomi, and Kiwi. None of these guys are good enough. Martinelli only one we should keep because of his pace, pressing and goals. But the rest really are way below par. They nit good enough for squad. Kai as well is a squaddie at best. Martinelli nor Kai should start for us

Jorginho & Ødegaard

Anyway, I am 100% sure the problem is Martinelli's shooting technique and accuracy. This can be fixed.
The bad news is I don't think he has improved them in the last 2 years.

I don't believe in the he is not looking up and football IQ stuff.
He did the right thing picking a shot.
A pass at the distance between him & Saka would have been intercepted.
He knows when to defend and when to overlap, he knows his work.
People here mixed flair with football IQ hence Rafael Leao is a super player here, when even Milan fans admitted he doesn't care about defensive duty. He literally would just jog around and had to be covered constantly by Theo Hernandez.

Martinelli should learn from Trossard how to shoot.

Neither does Mbappe.

Quite literally hate to say it, but Rasmi is right. I don't think it matters that he is not scoring as long as he is helping the defense.

It's aerial duels over technique, huff and puff over guile. Don't lose the ball, if you do, force the turnover and wait until they make a mistake or give you a set piece.

Not my cup of tea, but you can't argue with the results and the team looking very well drilled.

As long as GMart continues to deliver on the defensive end of the plays, it will transition into offense. Keep working, youngin.

Jorginho & Ødegaard

Ødegaard is not allowed to leave Saka's and White's side. That's by design and it's been working, so no point in changing that.

Bringing Martinelli infield is not the answer either, because he is not good at the build up. Similar situation as Kai, where you want them to take a touch and be on the move.

I honestly haven't seen much of Jorginho at left 8, my gut felling is that he prefers to play the ball to the right to keep it building up, but I could very well be wrong in this particular instance.

It's a tough situation, but I don't think Martinelli has shown enough to warrant the team changing for him.

He's just no longer the profile Arteta needs. A shame, as I like the player, but it is what it is. I'd be more on the trenches for him like @db10_therza if I felt he had an extra gear or two from the peak the player has shown before.

He has scored so nice goals where carries the ball long distance and the finish very nicely. He has some smoothness in all that chaos he cam cause when he is top.

But we needs more consistantly. He need to get going again and give something bsck to the team!

I am not advocating the team to change position for Martinelli, just pointing out those two (especially Jorginho) has the passing range to play through balls during counter attacks where Martinelli's speed shines.

Well, if Arteta doesn't need him, I am sure a manager that fixes Martinelli's shooting technique gonna have a fine player on their hands.
We pretty much has a younger taller Trossard with worse shooting, he is still a prospect.
