Well pleased for the kid. I have a lot of time for him but ngl even I was raging to get him off for Sterling when he missed his first chance from Saka's ball.

He needed a game like this where he had a lot of action to work out the kinks. Obviously, he still has his issues. He’s been progressing his confidence every game except that CL stinker, imo. Merino will be back soon and with Calafiori let’s see where it takes him.

decent goal but more impressed with the assist as he used his left foot and also picked somebody out. That’s what we need more of from him, we know he can score goals (when on form).

Not really buying people excusing the last year and a half and blaming it purely on the system though. As a starting LW for a title winning the standards are higher than that and even while being ‘unlocked’ he should have had one or two more today.

He’s responded well to Sterling and isn’t rolling over though, hopefully there’s more to come.

He’s got more of an issue with being isolated than saka, Saka’s so good he can operate in those conditions anyway. Gabi needs support. Looked much more relaxed for much of today tho.

Delighted for him, he's put in a serious shift and done so much dirty work these past few weeks.

So happy for him, gets too much criticism on here and in general.

Very good first half after a poor first few minutes. Next is for him to put together a complete 90 minute performance. Calafiori helped him a lot today and while I don't like the idea that a player needs their hand held, it does seem the case that he responds better to certain sorts of players around him.

Instinctive/livewire type guys like him can be so hard to get back in form if they get in a rut. They're so used to operating on their gut decisions that once confidence slightly dips all the actions that normally are second nature start getting second guessed. Sometimes you just need a bobbly pea roller to go in and that can change everything

2 assists 1 goal in 2 games he's done alright but I just feel he's not getting into 5th gear lately, felt more exciting and explosive a while back.

Think it's something to do with his latest injury. He lost some of that pace imo or my eyes are just aging I don't know.

In a football match anything can happen, the players, 90 minutes, fantastic moves, an element of luck, talent, courage, and touch of magic and, for those who are watching these men play, the search for excitement, for a memory, for a lesson in life.
