Everyone knows it's Canada's sport. When we beat the Soviets in '72 despite being completely blindsided by how they were actually better , by sending Bobby Clarke out to intentionally break Valeri Kharlamov's ankle, that's when Canada arrived on the world stage.

I have a theory on Canadians and hockey. You guys being nice all the time is actually a tactic so you can bottle up all your rage for that *one guy* who slightly mistimes his tackle, then BAM you just start swinging.

Martinelli should be the out ball player.

Mainly play down the right and shift it out to Martinelli when he's got a bit of space hugging the touchline.

For me he doesn't need to see more of the ball. He lacks a bit of the trickery of most of the players in this side in general, he's a different type of player, an impact player. Get the ball and run and commit FB's and take them out of the game. He's really the only offensive player we've got who can blister players with pace. If his confidence and form is back he'll contribute goals and assists.

Like he did to Porto and Bayern?

I do feel this idea of Martinelli having blistering pace is over exaggerated. There have been plenty of time where he's had a straight sprint and hadn't managed to pull away from his man.

He's definitely not in the Walcott or Abu category. Once they got a yard on the defender there was no catching them.

He's definitely one of the faster players in the league. Probably not Walcott or prime Traore levels as you say, but he's certainly up there and fast enough. Our attack always looks noticeably stodgy without him as well.

His decision making and at times inconsistent technique outside of the box is where many have an issue with him.

Arsenal Quotes

The coach's role is to make the player understand everything that serves the interest of the game. To do this he must speak to the child within each player, to the adolescent he was and the adult he is now. Too often a coach tends only to speak to the adult, issuing commands for performance, for victory, for reflection, to the detriment of the child who is playing for pleasure, living in the present.
