Gabriel Martinelli: Hamstrung

Think Martinelli can become our CF with time, provided we bring in another left winger of course.

Question is, who can come in.
Don’t have the intelligence or guile to become striker. He would just get clattered in there. And get a lot of injuries. He should work on his shooting and become off the ball player. That’s his best hope

Seems you know a lot as usual, and can predict the future as usual, despite never actually coached in your life. Your absolutes are really just guesses, and I dont even think they are intelligently thought out.

I think keep the absolutes to a minimum or completely remove them from your analysis, because you make yourself look silly time and time again. Martinelli MAY not make it as a successful forward, or CF in this specific case.

There's been no sign we want to do this at all tbf, has been just an AM idea for years.

Turns up only when we lose
Willian has scored more goals than Nelli, Gordon has scored more goals than Nelli.

Nelli has so far scored a scuff shot vs Luton and a deflected goal vs City.

Why does Nelli not take enough shots on goal, is the question we should be asking. Why has yet to master simple cutback, why is Nelli decision making skills still poor (dribbling out of play, crossing when no-one is in the box, overthinking when isolating defenders, etc..) ?

Definitely overachieved last season. The front 3 behind the striker registered historical numbers last season and said it’s not sustainable. He was the most likely to not repeat it because the other 2 are better players

But he is also becoming obsolete for us tactically. With Zinchenko coming inside and Havertz going up centre left. He is punched to the touch line. He has no left foot so even if he beats someone on the outside he has to check in. So most time he just has to pass inwards and keep width

People praised him for Seville game. But it showed his weakness perfectly. Constantly beat that guy but the delivery was off almost every time

That japanese kid from Sociedad looks like a quality player too.

Don't know about you...

...but I don't want this at my club to be honest 🤷‍♂️

It means that his presence is the box is very high, and it’s a question of him improving his execution there.

He needs to make better decisions and execute them better
Surely that makes George and your points invalid. He's clearly still getting into positions to be dangerous, and not just a defensive winger as George put it.

Yes if only it was that easy. The difference between good and great players is decision making. Plenty of speedy and skilful players everywhere. But poor decision making is what stops them from being great players

'Nelli is fine. The knee and then the hamstring probably worry him because that blistering turn of pace was so important. But either he'll get healthy, or he'll learn over time to do without it. Saka being able to do it on one and a half legs is the unusual thing at that age.

He is reached his limit. He isn’t good enough technically and with less space his lack of ability to beat players is not good enough. Also don’t think he is intelligent enough as a player for where we want to go

We got the mudryk scouting wrong. But he was there because we thought we had a chance to improve on Martinelli
