He just isn't suited to do what we need from a winger in this system. Getting the ball to his feet, having to dribble, find a teammate, etc.

His strengths are his running and instinctive finishing. In a counter-attacking team where it's his job to get on the end of things he would be quite useful.

He should be like a rotation player, shouldn't be starting every week for Arsenal but he's still good enough to play.

He's a decent squaddie yeah. Good situational player etc

Definitely need an upgrade for the starting spot though.

Id much rather see him further inside. I don’t mind how it’s done, a proper full back or a midfielder who is happy to go on the outside, but Martinelli in the channels is very good. He is lost on the touchline

My feeling too. I think he'll benefit from that classic LB bombing forward type next to him. (That's why a player like De Cuyper from Brugge comes to mind) A striker who lives for goals can be a big help too.

But then again, as a starter he's way to inconsistent. Really big fan of him, but need to take those glasses off and admit he's better suited as a squad player. He's a weapon for sure. But with they way we play you don't get far with: "he works his socks off"

That may be true, but if we are improving on Martinelli it would need to be a top player of Saka level. And I think Martinelli is hard done by because he is often expected to run the left flank by himself. Gone are the days when Xhaka or Tierney would be supporting him. Look at Saka recently. Without the support of Ødegaard, who seems to be playing deeper and deeper, and Timber and White who haven’t got forward as much, he isn’t as effective. It’s the same with any winger. Obviously nowadays Salah plays much more centrally when Liverpool are in possession, but before he was supported by a midfielder, often Henderson, and also TAA bombing forward. And then Pires who had Cole coming up to support.

I think Martinelli is a victim of the overly cautious and very rigid approach we often take

The four wingers in this game were Barcola, Doue, Saka, and Martinelli. One of these is not like the others.

He just doesn't have the tools for this role at LW. He needs to be an inside forward/CF at a transition team. At this stage, it's not looking great for him in terms of hitting the heights here.

I love him as a team player but we should upgrade on the left we need something different. And we all know Williams would offer us that.

Don't want to go harsh on him because the only player that looked like a weak link once PSG settled was Hakimi.

He faded out very quickly but to be fair I wasn't expecting anything and he provided things here and there.

Such inconsistent player and it's vital we upgrade in summer
