Gabriel Martinelli: The Grift Of The Gab

HaffBR

Designer of fancy pyramids

Country: Israel

Player:Havertz
If at least Martinelli could go back to his more slim version of 2021 and 2022 then we would be clear of Trossard imo, but he won some weight and muscles in the process, while he won some strength, he lost some of his edge in terms of agility and acceleration which also worsened his ball carrying and separation (he as way more eletric before), he isn't Saka to play this type of game, he is someone who only can rely on raw pace and quickness. His tunnel vision wouldn't be improved, anyway.

His ceiling is prime Theo Walcott.

There’s no question about his physical talent or what he can do when he’s in a purple patch or against the right kind of opponent, and that he can make a nice YouTube complication.

The issue is that he’s been about 25% purple patch/75% blending into the scenery over the past couple seasons and we have these long, long stretches of just doing nothing. A median performance from Saka is still very, very good. A median performance from Martinelli isn’t. And if he isn’t feeling it or it’s a tight game against a low block team - which has been most of the time - he just doesn’t seem to have the footballing IQ to figure out ways to make himself effective.

He's our Park Ji-Sung but we're paying him CR7 wages.
The above comparison also applies to his actual ability.

Simple as that.

arteta even cannot improve this guy, so why keep this man

must sell martinelli this summer, 40m pounds + 10m pounds add ons will be enough

This guy can't be a starter next season.
I think everyone, including the people at the club must realise this now. Even Nelson was looking so much better which should never be happening. I think we will definitely either sign someone else or at worst put Madueke there, he can't be any worse at this point. I still don't think we'll sell him this summer though, so i hope he becomes firmly a bench option, has a good season and is then moved on next year whilst still retaining some value.

So Martenelli is the new scapegoat.Yes he didn't do much today but that can be said for the rest of the team..I noticed how little we play from our left side everythng ultimately goes to the right with ode n saka.Martenelli surely needs to improve but the hate is getting too much now.

Nice kid, works hard, terrible at football. I don't care what excuse anyone wants to make about the left 8 or the fullback not overlapping enough.

We have a 15 year old who doesn't need his hand held by anyone and splits double teams when he feels like it. He somehow knows when to release the ball, can keep his head up while dribbling and has variety to his game.

The 15 year old has those qualities but Nelli approaching his mid 20's doesn't. Really stew on that and then think about how pathetic it is to blame Martinelli not having any of that in his game on what's around him rather than ask why he's yet to develop these most basic skills for a winger when he should be approaching his prime.
