Gabriel Martinelli: The Grift Of The Gab

We could live with him when we were building towards top 4 and trying to earn CL but this guy is just not good enough. Could be a useful sub but his wages are absurd but the culprit for that has moved on and is ruining three other clubs.

The "regression" narrative is hilarious, too.

He was always ****.

Was he? A quick search shows yourself calling him a "fantastic winger" who was "something special", and claiming that he was already "performing at Alexis levels at 21". He's completely ****e now but no need to rewrite history and act like it was obvious to see from the get go how he was going to develop.

Eze or Trossard should play over Gabi at all times from now on. It’s getting ridiculous. And I say that as someone who thought he was going to be our next Alexis. But he just doesn’t have it right now so Mikel needs to bench him..

He’s had any iota of atracking instinct eviscerated by Arteta. He’s slowly become a eunuch.

He should have pushed to move this summer for the sake of his career, but just another player comfortable on his £180k a week. We’ll probably sell him for £10million or something next summer to Genoa

The club are planning to increase his value this season though 😭
At the end of this season he's gonna be on the last year (albeit they got an option for another year), it's either gonna be new contract or move him on. If he gets a new contract no chance he's ever going anywhere.

He’d probably be desperate enough to accept a new contract on the same or even reduced wages tbh.

He definitely knows that this is the best it will ever get for him. I reckon we sell for whatever we can this summer though unless they prioritise selling Havertz (useful player but his contract is a problem).

It was tbh too many flawed fundamentals to ever be a top player. I’ve been saying this since he was 21.
Tactically the below is quite interesting that they realised Martinelli isn’t anything to worry about which enabled Szoboszlai to go on and press Calafiori higher up the pitch.

Should be the blueprint for a lot of side who have a half decent RCB and RB who can bomb up the pitch vs us. Martinelli isn’t on nothing, there’s no need to focus on whether he’ll get in behind.

Not a surprise. Other teams analysts have admitted to focusing on Saka and taking their chances with Nelli and that was them being kind

100% on Arteta for playing someone our opposition can ignore for a tactical advantage. I’m increasingly sure that our lineup cost us that game.

beyond stupid when arteta put martinelli at left wing instead put eze, infact we have big opportunity to bully szobolsai (attacking midfielder) who play for right back

Didn't concede with him on the pitch, makes you think.

I mean it was a wonder free kick for one... and you don't pick attackers for their defensive qualities you pick them for their primary attributes and abilities making them a threat.

It's quite simple his football iq is lacking and when you get to this level ie competing for the league season after season you need more than what he's giving.

Eze was more of a threat in 15 mins than Martinelli was the whole game. I honestly think we should have attacked Liverpool from the get go and then if we got the goal then bring Martinelli on to help contain and maybe nick a 2nd on the break.

The failure here was we needed Eze's ability to move players and intelligence on and off the ball earlier and possibly from the start.

Nasty stuff 🔥

16 non penalty goals in the PL at like 21, you can’t say he was **** all along.

Arsenal Quotes

I don't want the will to educate to be opposed by the will to win. That makes the educator sound like an idiot.
Any manager's approach must be to educate. One of the beauties of our job is the power to influence the course of a man's life in a positive way.
You and me have been lucky enough to meet people who believed in us and led us forward.
The streets are full of talented people but who didn't have the luck of finding someone who placed faith in them. I can be the one that facilitates life, that gives an opportunity
