Gabriel Martinelli: The Grift Of The Gab

I don't see any reason to move on from him. He's been great this season, imo. We clearly need a partner for him out there for rotation now that Trossard is doing god knows what. He feasts on CL and cup opponents as the games open up so he's quite useful, imo. Even with his warts and all, I would hate to see him leave.
He will end up scoring more goals than the other wingers at the club this season. Trossard is the one to move

Don't no why Martinelli gets so much hate ok he missed against forest and brentford he score those and we are 8 points ahead.I get the frustration don't get the hate.He has scored 11 goals already even with the limited time.He is also our fastest player and once we get the lead and the opposition sends more body forward Martinelli is very important with his pace.

That's just it really. He's not good enough for a PL title charge. Fantastic in the Cups.

It's the same thing basically, just people venting their frustration over an overrated 180k-a-week winger with a fake Brazilian passport. It's like autism, there's a spectrum.

That left foot finish vs Wigan annoyed me so much

Just shows you all the folks saying that Brentford chance "actually was really difficult"...bullshit, Martinelli has the tekkers to bury that with his left as he showed vs Wigan.

Yeh he has managed some difficult finishes such as vs city in the PL as well.

I feel like when he has too much time to think in high pressure situations (last minute of a PL game for example) he makes mistakes / makes the wrong call. When he’s comfortable or doesn’t have to think he has the ability to finish for sure.

Vs city it was a pretty rushed situation and a low % opportunity which took the pressure off. Vs Brentford he knew that ball was coming to him for a while before it did.

can't we just left it as he tried to place a shot with his dominant foot and Brentford's keeper read it perfectly? It's Wigan ffs.
it's not like he missed an open goal like his other miss and that one was on his left foot, if my memory serves me right (I don't trust my memory tho)

If he tried to shoot with his left foot and Wigan keeper caught it, "he had time to switch to his dominant foot" argument would appear

His shooting (power and accuracy) is just not that good, and something he still fails to improve

There's only one player in our squad I trust to 100 percent finish that chance and its Trossard. Everyone else imo could've easily fluffed it on their day.

He's failed to improve on anything since he got here imo.

I believe we can easily get 60m plus for him. Should be targeting 80. If he can go to Saudi, then that would be 100 easy. Get Summerville for 50 tops and you have a player who mirrors Gabbi's better traits but with better football IQ

Do you want to go back and fight for top four? Summerville is mediocre as ****

He has a history of missing these big chances though. Agree that I'm being harsh on the guy.
I just think he's as dumb as a rock. Dont make him think just train him so it's muscle memory and he won't do it again. Being dumb as a footballer can actually be useful as they tend to be less likely to bottle it.

Look at Cole Palmer, doubt that guy ever gets nervous he's just having a kick about and looking at the pretty stadium lights.

Adebayor, Carragher, Gary Neville proved you can have a career without thinking

No he's not. Looked like a top player with a very high ceiling every time I've watched him. May not be many times but I think I stand by my opinion. @Dokaka kindly prove me wrong.

He's doing okay right now, but he's got some way to prove that he's a real PL player and not just a great Championship player with a purple patch imo. He needs to kick on and deliver for West Ham more regularly.

Meanwhile we are aiming for the PL and CL, so is that what we need? The answer is no, period.

Perhaps you are right or perhaps he turns out to be the next Raphinha/ Olise and we wonder why we didn't take a punt! Plus what's the downside? You could still sale at no to minimal loss considering he's still good at least for mid table teams.

Of course we'd all rather the Doues of this world. But are they attainable?

A punt for 50m? Anyway, it's going off topic.

Martinelli is crap, we should sell him no matter what.

When you think about what he can do if used the right way as we have done in cups, 1 goal in 20 premier leagues is absolutely inexcusable. This guy spend 80% of the time stood hugging the left touchline, receiving the ball to feet with his back to goal and 20% of the time running onto a through ball. Flip that on it's head, and you start seeing different outcomes for him and for this team.
