He's inconsistent and only suits certain game states - that's why he's not good enough to be a starter. That's not news to me.

He can’t come inside. Which is fair enough, but it defeats the whole purpose of having to play a player in the opposite wing.

Did you notice what I think was one of Arteta's 3 "solutions"? He had Nelli rotating inside more in the final third like what Trossard does but he'd end up getting the ball to feet with nobody to play off of so instead of him shuffling on the touchline he'd do it outside the 18. That type of thing is never going to work unless either Cala or the left 8(and probably only if it's MLS playing there) is available for a 1-2 with him like what became his bread and butter with Xhaka.

Exactly... At least kick him or annoy him whatever. It's criminal not to get any yellow card at all to throw Reilly off his game. He got easily kept in the pocket even Noni having his worst game was more threatening
