Why not? The big Dutch teams have superior academies and produce a lot of players. We not on that level.PSV has a good academy but a PSV youth team shouldn't win away against a pretty much full strength Arsenal youth team.
Mehmet Ali's team has largely done well this season but the awful run at the end of last season and now this game make me question if he's the right person for the job.

Lens will physically bully our kids. The problem Arsenal academy has is it’s set up to get 1-2 players through. The best academies produce kids that are used to winning. Arsenal prefer to play younger kids age up, so these kids lose a lot throughout their youth just to get experience with playing against better playersNot only that. First, yes the Dutch have good academies; Second, I looked at their team and about 6 of them have played for their Reserve team , who play in the Dutch second division against men, and I assume another good majority train with the reserve team. Whereas, we had the likes of Benjamin returning from injury + a team that has not played together enough this season. Nwaneri MLS Ibrahim Walters Sousa haven't played since the international break and I believe it affected their sharpness. I'd love to hear Mehmet's analysis on the game but I believe we'll be better against Lens with warmer legs. However Sevilla and Lens have good academies so it might not be easy for us. I think the PSV u21 team also completely obliterated us last season in the u21 cup and they beat a Nottingham side we struggled with 3-1 this season. Good thing is they'll learn a lot about their level from games like this.
Said it at the time wilshere getting the u18 was an insult to actual experienced youth coaches and trusting a guy with no coaching with your academy players most important age of development showed we not that serious with bringing through kidsNot impressed with the current set of coaches at u21 and u18 level.
Can obviously do better.
If it had anything to do with keeping MLS and Nwaneri it was worth it. But he really should be moved on now, not sure what else the club can do for him, but I don’t think he’s the best option for that head coach role.Said it at the time wilshere getting the u18 was an insult to actual experienced youth coaches and trusting a guy with no coaching with your academy players most important age of development showed we not that serious with bringing through kids

Also both their goals were slightly lucky deflectionsNot only that. The highlights are really short but the game looked a fair bit closer than what was being described. Saying that, lots of people said Lewis-Skelly was really good and he didn't feature at all in the highlights. Also both their goals were slightly lucky deflections
Yea seemed pretty unlucky. From the description the team played some slick stuff in the first half. Remember this was the first game back after the international break. Overall will be a good competition to test the kids. Good to be back in the champions league. Also both their goals were slightly lucky deflections
I follow Man City and Chelsea and they also play a lot of kids above their age groups. Our u21s team is older than both those teams so, it's not a purely Arsenal thing and they don't do that for all the kids. Academies are about developing individuals so each kid has to be developed at their own pace. Lens are a good academy so I don't expect it to be easy . For as long as the academy players get the right experience that enables them make decent careers I'm fine with losing some games trying to challenge these kids.Lens will physically bully our kids. Personally not fan of this and the best academies don’t do this
Thought he did OK, faded massively in the 2nd half but he hung in there. Always smart on the ball. Sagoe Jr defo earned his start based on his work so far this season - was a bit sad though for Cozier-Duberry. I think he has done more than enough to also warrant a debut by now but as you said, he's been quiet this season so far. Wonder if it's had much to do with his contract situation. He's becoming a commodity now so maybe he's pondering options.Sagoe Jr starts over ACD who has had a bit of a quiet start to the season by his standards @Geofranco it seems the gaffer sees what you've seen for a while .
Sagoe is talented. Two footed dribblers are rare. He has a good shot too. If he bulks up a little bit more and gets even more powerful and explosive, he can be a very dangerous prospect.Sagoe Jr starts over ACD who has had a bit of a quiet start to the season by his standards @Geofranco it seems the gaffer sees what you've seen for a while .
I'm the biggest fan of White but he really pissed me off tonight. I hate it when first team players ignore the kids on the pitch. I get that they haven't had enough time to build trust but I hate it too. I wanted to see him run at the players because he's one of the best at it.Sagoe is talented. Two footed dribblers are rare. I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves . IMO he should. We know Arteta won't give him that chance he deserves , as Ethan, MLS , Walters and now Sagoe Jr will take up all the little youth time that Arteta has to give. But let's wait and see .Thought he did OK, faded massively in the 2nd half but he hung in there. Always smart on the ball. Exactly they were plenty of times Charles was free one on one but benny completely ignored it.I'm the biggest fan of White but he really pissed me off tonight.
